				 You forgot????
Blackjack, you crack me up! I probably would have forgotten to ask also.

Originals here in Hawaii were selling for low to mid 50's at the local Ford Dealership (back in the day).

				 JAC?
The Excalibur Automobile Company, founded by American designer Brooks Stevens and run by his sons, was experiencing financial difficulties. The ASE certified auto manufacturer was purchased by a pair of wealthy German businessmen: Udo Geitlinger and Michael Timmer. Geitlinger's son Jens was set up to manage the operation.
I was told that JAC stands for Jens Automobile Company.

Excalibur continued to manufacture their classic limos and roadsters, however it was Jens' love of sports cars that prompted the Cobra endeavor. It is my understanding that an engineer from Classic Roadsters was contacted, and subsequently joined Excalibur who then developed the JAC 427 Cobra. Thus the similarity between the Classic Roadster Cobra and the Excalibur JAC 427 Cobra.

				 OH WELL
JUST THOUGHT I WOULD UPDATE EVERYONE ON THIS THREAD.
ONLY ONE MORE EVENT IN NOVEMBER AND SCOTT LOUGHEED'S CAR GOES BACK TO HIM
THE CAR IS TRULY OUTSTANDING AND PERFORMS SOOOOOO VERY WELL. NUMBER 106 IS A GREAT CAR AND HAS FAR EXCEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. AFTER CLUTCH AND SMALL REPAIRS, CHANGING TIRES AND WHEELS TO ACHIEVE BEST PERFORMANCE, THE CAR IS NOW A SLOT CAR ON RAILS.

EXCALIBUR IF YOU ARE OUT THERE.....COPY THIS CAR FOR COMPETITION. FINE RIDE!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU SCOTT FOR SUCH A GREAT RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I lowered the suspension on mine, put in some stiffer front springs and "dialed in" the suspension in general. Added some Yokohama AO32R's and the difference in handling at the track was night and day!
Indeed the Excals CAN hustle around a track and do it quite nicely!

Later I raised the front end back to about 4 inches clearance from what had been about 3 inches. Handling was only marginally decreased, but "speed bumps" were much more friendly! Not to mention the improved ride quality!

Of course Ernie sold his red Excalibur...AGAIN!

and another Excalibur was sold out in Denver.

Any way we could get the new owners to sign in?

 Hey Ernie,
Check out this page.

http://www.hnn.navy.mil/Archives/030...how_030620.htm
Is this your car? Did you include the 2 accessories the owner is displaying with the car? If so, I might have bought it, if only I had known. |

Yup, that IS my car and I DID win the trophy!
Jim is my detail man, a Boswains (spelling?) mate in the Navy. On occasion he would take the Excal to his place for a buff and polish. One weekend he called and said the Navy Exchange was having a car show. I said, Cool, take the Excal and I'll meet you there and pick up the car after the show.

Well, I was late getting to the show and Jim was having SUCH a good time showing it off AND telling people it was NOT HIS, but hardly anyone cared who owned it, they just loved the car!

First Place Peoples Choice, got the trophy. I let Jim get the glory, it was a "military" show and meant more to him than to me. He was pretty stoked getting his picture in the paper!

After all, isn't it more about the people than the car?
Ernie

Not to mention the GREAT advertising which eventually led to the sale of the Excal at a "nice price". Last edited by Excaliber; 12-06-2003 at 04:09 PM..

Just saw #115 for sale at a dealer in Frankfurt/Germany. The car is blue with white stripes and has the 302 engine.

				 Thanks Eric!
I need to apologize for not following up on some of these finds.
I too have located a couple more but need to confirm MFG #.

I'm in the final stages of a new home renovation project and ALL car related activities are on hold. Hope to be in by spring and be ready for another fun filled summer.

Sorry to be so late joining in, but I've got #109.
It doesn't get out much because since I bought it I've spent way too much time away from home. Now that I've stopped that nonsense this toy should be on the road more. Here in the NW it spends Nov - Mar in the garage on blocks.

Its yellow with black stripes, has a 302 which gets its first upgrade next week - a racing cam. Its only blemish is a torn seat cushion. (How come women insist on leaping over the side?)

What a fantastic site!! Thanks guys!!

I just finished catching-up on the whole thread and learned much.

I bought my car through Costco (no, it did not come shrink wrapped.) They held the westcoast franchise for awhile and sold at least a couple here in WA. Mine was their first and they had to reprogram their register to handle the sale. They made me check it through their cash register and drive it out the door, and yes someone did mark the register ticket.

I mention this because Costco suppied me with something that may be unusual and of interest to many... I got about a dozen pictures of my car taken during its construction! I'd be happy to share them with you. Let me know who should get them or where to post them.

I also have the Hella Protection system manual - if anybody is interested.

A bit more about my car - its got AC and a Sony radio/cassette removeable faceplate unit. I've got a litle more than 6100 miles on its 5.0 HO engine.
