Default Right engine bank slapping noise

The right bank has developed a slapping noise. I was wondering if it is a broken or damaged lifter?

Bad lifters are usually described as a ticking noise. Slapping sounds more serious. Time to listen with a stethescope.

Take the valve cover off and look to see if it is a rocker.

Every once in a while an exhaust leak at the header can make a noise that can fool you into thinking it's a mechanical problem. Without hearing the noise you're describing, I don't know if this is a possiblity on your car, but just wanted to pass it on...

I second what Dirty Harry said. I had a similar experience with an exhaust header leak. Sounds awful.

If you can't see something broken with the valve cover off. (Engine not running)
Warm it up a little, then take off the valve cover again. Start the engine and take a look.

Thank goodness it was something fairly easily fixed and fairly inexpensive. Curious, how a leak there will fool you into thinking you've got bigger problems.
