Default Potential buyer of an early CSX4000

Hi guys,
I'm about to pull the trigger on an early CSX that was built in 2000. Are there any issues on the early builds that I should be aware? Thanks in advance!

Do a search on CSX here on CC and you'll find a few things. I do remember something about the front spindles, but not enough to contribute meaningfully. I don't recall anything being impossible to take care of. Good luck! A CSX4000 would be very cool.

Since in the early days there were many different builders, perhaps a CSX# and some details of what you are looking at would be in order so we can answer your questions properly.

Most early cars are considered the best as they were built by guys that knew them from inception in Vegas. The other facilities building them did come up to speed and quality. An inspection of the vehicle by someone that knows them is worth considering. Doug raises a good point on billet front uprights that used small upper ball joint attachment bolts. I have a bit of a punch list of things to look for I'll try and find for you.

Well guys, I went ahead and bought this car yesterday- 1965*Shelby*Cobra 427 Car for Sale

CSX4167

I think I got a really good deal on the car. I've been searching for a black car with an aluminum block for about 2 years.

See attached pics for more info on the car. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks guys. I bought it sight-unseen from a dealer in St. Louis. I'm in Arizona, so it'll be a couple more weeks before I get to drive her!

Car was built by Finishline motorsports Las Vegas. In my opinion they were a premier builder. When Shelby would come out with a new model he would ,most of the time, have Finishline build it. They were pricey but built some nice cars. If you look in registry under new models you see the first ones were built by them. If you want to sell more you would of coarse want the first one to be the to be as good as possible. I have number 7 of 11 full competion cars approved by Shelby. It was built by Finishline and is nice car. Was just at Pomona 50 year reunion and the car was picked top 25. There were some really good cars there, so to be picked the car has to top notch. Point is I don't think you will be disappointed . I have number of crew chief ex employee if you want to have any work done. A lot of engines coming out of their shop were put together by Kroyer engines. If yours was, its top notch also. Great looking car, have fun.

I have #4250. You won't be dissapointed. Just don't look for a manual. Use these guys posting above for any help. I swear you could line up 100 of the early ones, and each will be a little different. Much like the 3000 series....

Finshline got the most basic stripper they could and built it up their way with the nicest parts they could get. A good example of that is the nice ally SC trunk. That will be a good one for sure.

Mine did come with a manual. Is this unusual? It's a 63 page manual that says "Chassis Intruction Book, Owners Handbook" on the first page.

Probably 'souvenir' reprint of the orig AC manual... don't rely on setting your specs by it.

There's quite a bit from that manual that relates to yours.
