"I dreamed of a farm in Africa.....". Well not really. I did fail to mention that we listened to the Sirius Pink Floyd channel for 1272 miles. Doug says no mo Floyd for. 6 months.

I'm getting too old for this. Taking more than 3the hrs at the wheel today is tough. Weatheris great, no traffic. Should be back in Houston by 5. Wake up Jim, you're turn to drive.

Dang, you guys gotta be stiff. I drove the Cobra for an hour yesterday and replaced a zip tie under the hood and I'm stiff today.:cool: But I did catch a little of the Floyd marathon on channel 27....;)

Speaking of Pink Floyd. It is my go to brewing music. When I bottle, I usually listen to DSOTM. By the time I'm done bottling, the album is almost done. Very therapeutic. |

What's the plan for the car once it's back in Texas. Is it going to a shop or dougs garage to be finished? Do you guys have a timeframe in mind? I would love to try and make it to Houston for a weekend to help out.

Doug and I met Nick Mason (Pink Floyd drummer) at the Goodwood Revival last year. He was there with some of his classic race cars, including his Ferrari 250 GTO, for which he turned down an offer of $30M not so long ago. You wouldn't believe how hard that car was raced out on the track in pouring rain.

We had a Black Faced ram, but as he was new to the job and we didn't want to get to Spring and find we didn't have any lambs, we borrowed another ram with a proven track record. He was a white faced breed, so when the lambs arrived, we would know who did the business by the colour of their faces. Oddly, it the experienced ram with either kinky tendencies or an eye-sight problem. For those of you who don't know, when you put a ram in to service ewes, you generally put a harness on it that has a large crayon fastened to the breast plate so that when he mounts the ewes, he leaves a coloured mark on their rear ends. The standard practice is to change the colour weekly so that you have a pretty good idea when to expect the lambs. We started with a red marker on the borrowed ram and left him to get on with it. The next morning, he'd obviously had a very busy night, but half the ewes he'd seen to had red rumps and the other half had red heads. :JEKYLHYDE :LOL: To bring the story up to date, most of the ewes had twins this Spring and many of those had one black faced lamb and one white faced, so they were clearly pretty free and loose with their favours last Autumn. ;) Paul |

What a trip
Home at 5pm, unloaded the back of my truck into Jim's, motor is in my shop. Took me 2 hrs just to wind down. Hit the sack at 11 and stared at the ceiling for a good 30 minutes. Up at 5:45 to head down to Clear Lake for breakfast with the Houston Cobra Club. 20 cars, 35 people and then cruised to Galveston for ice cream. Home at 1:30 today and another 130 miles. I'm whipped.
The outpouring of support for Doug and getting his Cobra finished is amazing. I'm sure during the coming week he'll have everything inventoried and a game plan for finishing the car. Thank you to everyone for the support during the road trip. The posts kept us smiling for sure. My hat's off to Jim "Elmariachi" for spearheading this. I'm glad I was able to be part of the team to "Bring Home the Cobra". Thank you to my sister and her husband for giving us a place to shower, eat and catch up on some sleep in a real bed, even if it was for a short time. |
