Thank you to everyone for the support during the road trip. The posts kept us smiling for sure.

It was no effort for all of us all to sit behind our computers doing basically nothing but watch your efforts. You guys are the heros here who spent all of your time, effort and money to pull the final leg of Dougs car build together. There are no words that can convey value and effort behind the sacrifice for a good cause that you guys accomplished. This thread is all about YOU, not US. :)

A Job Well Done !!!

Doug's CCX is nesting safely in my garage this evening while Doug gets his game plan together. For those offering help, Doug will be reaching out to you I am sure. I read back through the old threads where he started building the car, imagining Doug freezing his butt off in his Jersey garage putting his dream together. Here in the armpit of hell he will be wishing for some cool Jersey nights.:)

To everyone who has contributed money, parts, interest and faith, I am grateful to you and to be able to contribute a little time to this. It has been a thrill for me to get to know Doug, hear all his stories of his humble upbringing, how he learned to fly and how he came to love Cobras. I captured a bunch of it on film and with Doug's permission I will distill it down into a short video in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks to my compadre Bill (Mtpockets) for all his contribution. He has been a great leader for our club, has helped drive our charity work with Operation Comfort and is a first class guy all the way.

Now we get to help build another FE-powered Cobra with a great guy in Doug aka 767Jockey. Life is good.

Thanks.

Jim

WoW! She's Beautiful.... Is it just the camera angle or do the rear wheels get the tires out close to the fenders?

Wow, What a ride! SO much to tell you guys, this weekend has been a whirlwind. I need to rest my weary body tonight, put in a days work tomorrow, and sit down and type a whole bunch of words in a feeble attempt to thank all the guys who have stepped up to help, beginning of course with my Thelma and Louise type amigos, Jim and Bill. And yes, this trip came at a price - when we began I was a huge Pink Floyd fan. After 24+ (yes, you read that correctly) straight hours of the XM Pink Floyd channel, some of the songs heard three and four times in that time, I can EASILY go 6 months without hearing a Pink Floyd song!

You guys are all awesome, I have no words to thank Jim and Bill and so many, many others. I just made a quick inventory of what was on hand at Ed Combs' place when we picked up, as I had never seen any of the boxes, they were all shipped directly to his place except for two, which I have here. I'll get back to all you guys tomorrow to let you know what parts we foound there.

Thank, you, a million thank you's, to all of you. Jim, Bill, I hope you guys get some very well deserved sleep.

G'night until tomorrow. My car now sleeps in Houston.

Rear-end needs to be setup and aligned.

Awesome job guys**)! Glad you made it back safely:D.

Looks nice!

Jim, what is on the floor of the garage? Did you put it on yourself? Hard to do? Looks good!

Thanks. I did it myself using Devoe Coatings products, which are industrial-grade no BS epoxy coatings. None of the Home Depot crap-in-a-can. Cost me $1000 in materials to do three full bays including base coat, flakes and clearcoat. I used a heavy nap roller to give it some texture for traction and flaked it in a manner that would hide dirt and debris. I am very happy with it, no peeling, cracking or hot tire lift. It does NOT like to have oil or fuel sit on it for an extended period (days) or it will turn the surface yellow, but they all do that I suspect. Here is the forum post from when I did the job:

Hit me offline if you have any other questions.

I was AWOL for awhile and am just catching up now (life with little kids). What a trip! Thank you guys for doing this for Doug. As for all that PF, that would have put me to sleep listening to that while driving all night. %/ Great music, but better for relaxing.
