Side Pipes Blistering Paint

Hi, just curious if anyone has had any experiences were their live side pipes have blistered their cars fibreglass/paint. (not legs)

And if so, was there anything they did to help eliminate it. I'd guess in normal street applications it may not be an issue but on the dyno or in race trim has it ever happened to anyone?

If so what'dya do?

Many years ago I saw a friends SPF Cobra do this but it was because he was running the air/fuel mixture to lean which was really overheating the pipes. If you have the car setup right this shouldn't be an issue. Having the side pipe cermaic coated also keeps the heat going out the pipe vs the exterior of the pipes getting hotter.

First off what's the gap between pipes and body? Gary is right too lean or incorrect timing will make excessive pipe heat.

...Right on..it happened to my SPF during installation and testing....no problem once the timing was corrected...

When on a chassis dyno be sure that they always have the dyno fans running. When they forgot to turn the fans on for one long run the meat ball numbers on the side fender of my car got scorched.
