Default Swapping Gauges

Quick question here, is it possible to swap gauges out from one brand to another? Perhaps a more appropriate question is, is it a difficult pain in the ass? Specifically, putting Smiths gauges into the car. Is it a process that takes thousands of dollars and tons of modification?

I'm wondering since I see many nice Factory Five and Backdraft cars for sale, but none have those crisp Smiths gauges in them.

Connections are similar, but the correct Smith tach and speedo have a 3.9" case. Most aftermarket gauges are 3-5/8" so the dash may require changes.

So I gather you do have SW. IMHO I know you want to change your gauges, and althought Smiths were in the original Cobras I am bias to SW. They have less problems than Smiths.
