Floor mats won't stay in place

What do you guys do? I was considering using snaps on the back of the mats or using a plastic hook like used in the newer Corvettes. John |
Order a set of the Mat-loc clips. A fellow Cobra owner gave me one and it works like a charm.

I used plastic ties, one on each corner of the mat. I put a small hole in the mat with duck tape over the hole on the back then attached it to my seat frame. It never moves:D

I do the same thing as Steve G. except that I put a grommet at the rear of the mat and use two interlocking zip-ties at both corners to account for the plane of the mat vs. the post. One could use a single zip-tie, but I have found this easier.

I used truck bed liner material with a couple of drain holes since the car is far from waterproof no sense in dealing with soggy mats all the time.The trans tunnel and behind the seats have the original type carpeting.

All new cars came out with something like this 1990-2004 Corvette C4 Floor Mat Retaining Clip after mats were pushed under the gas pedals

I've been using the clips from GGBailey for about 5 years. They work fine.

Another method in addition to those mentioned. Glued to the underside of the floor mat the plastic runner mat material that has the grips, also stiffens the floor mat.

I use two 5/16" hex head x 1" #12 stainless sheet metal screws. I thread them through the mat (right side/left side) into the carpeting up next to the seat. They hold terrific and are hardly noticable. Best thing is the whole shooting match costs less than 50 cents.

I currently use large industrial velcro, works great and use to remove mats to vacuum. In the past I have used bed sheet straps (from Bed Bath and Beyond) and clipped it to my mat and my seat frame.

I use zink plated 3/8"x1" cariage bolts and fender washers with holes down through the floor and my mats definitely do not move. I came 'way too close to whacking someone because the mat held my throttle open. Spincter time!

Lots of great suggestions. I like the lift a dots, the Corvette part and the Mat-loc. I am going to think about this and make a decision.

Go to your local hardware store get some snaps like they use on canvas. Pot one into each corner of the matt and screw the other half into the floor, snap the matt into place! mine have been in place for almost 17000 miles drag strip, road coarses and Tail Of The Dragon and all the rest of the twisty roads! Plus no peg sticking out like the lift a dot, and much simpler to install in matts.

I used Lift-a-dot for the fix. They look the most correct to me. The post are clinched to the carpet instead of screwed into the floor.

I too have the lift-a-dots and pins in my Kirkham and they work great.
