Maybe we should make old threads disappear, since they obviously become irrelevant.

why?

the topic is 56 years old, so it doesn't matter if an answer is 13 month delayed, when it is relevant like this is

This is one of the most interesting threads in this forum, with many first hand information, keep it alive

My personal take was that this is a grudge match between two members, one of which could not let it go and had to make a post in a thread that has not had a post in it in over a year. Reminds me of a certain CSX4K owner

Oh well. If people are not interested they don't have to post or read it. I like facts and stories no matter how old they may be.

mrmustang obvIously has issues with people posting factual information that he has no connection with, maybe he feels left out? Have you got a grudge against me?
This has to do with the Cobra (2416) that the post is regarding and actual facts and first hand knowledge. For your information I have a personal connection with this car, do you?

“Reminds me of a certain CSX4? Owner”?

obviously he hasn't and therefore a grudge against you...

It is very important for this forum that experts like you are writing factual informations that 99% of the other members don't have.

Thanks for that!

Clearly posted for a response, so here you go, just not the one you expected

Although, from a certain PM, I can see why this thread was brought back from the depths

Bill, its not the first time you are spreading negative vibes into a thread you aren't involved in the first place,
its here all about the things we like and our passion, no place for negativity

I for one have never been PC (Ask anybody that has knows me. ), I come here to get away from that We have enough uneasiness in the US & the world, to have it here, We have a saying here in PNW region, we started as "Cobra Friends" now we are "Friends that own Cobras" BIG difference, we care about each others health & wellness, the cars have become secondary. For goodness sakes everybody "Chill" Cheers TommyRot.

The response that I made was due to a posters remark that the Cobra in question was not built as a competition Cobra when in fact it was, the reason for the completion tag intstead of the typical AC tag that the Cobra came with. Further evidence that the Cobra was built as a competition Cobra rather than a street Cobra with a Stage 3 engine option.

Yes, 2416 was completed by the race shop at SA, but based on the many items on the car that would be on a street car and not on a competition car and lacking several elements that would normally be on a competition car, it simply is the highest optioned street car produced. The factory invoice does not mention the car being any kind of competition car.

Well, if someone wanted a particular spec and Shel did not have exactly what was needed on hand would that have stopped him from taking the guy's deposit? I think not. I bet he'd build up whatever he had on hand.

Enzo did similar things about the same time. They'd race a car for a while and when it became obsolete on the track they'd make it into a street car, re-stamp the chassis and sell it along.

A-snake,
Lacking what elements of a competition car? We already know that the SAI ledgers describe the car as a drag car, maybe it was built to compete in a different class than the Dragon Snakes that had radioused wheel arches and slicks?

t walgamuth,
You are absolutely correct, there were a number of street cars that were built into competition cars by SAI for various reasons, be it road racing or drag racing.

It is my opinion but I believe 2416 was built for more of a “production” based drag racing class.
