"Vintage" wheels - reviews?

I'm looking to pick up a set of new wheels to put the finishing touches on my rebuild. I like the look of the "Vintage" wheels but I've never seen them or talked to anyone who has them.

Anyone on here have any experience? Issues with the single center hub spinner adaptors?

Bob at Vintage has an excellent reputation and the wheels I bought from him look beautiful. I did have one slight, self-inflicted problem in that I had to trim the length of the wheel studs on my rear end for the adaptor pins and failed to trim a couple short enough. That distorted the adaptor or the pins enough to cause the wheel to bind on it and it was difficult to get off. Once I fixed that they mount and remove fine. Haven't got my car on the road yet.

I bought my Vintage wheels from Bob about two years ago, just when he was changing manufacturing sites. He did everything he could to get me my wheels as quickly as possible, including air freight at his expense. The wheels are top quality, and I can say that because I used to work with OE manufacturers to design and qualify aluminum wheels. Another big plus is that Vintage wheels are pressure cast, which produces a higher strength wheel with less chance of porosity. Great guy to work with and a quality product. I'll buy from him again for sure!

Bob went out of his way to make my set of 15" pin drive wheels. As mentioned here, they are a die cast wheel that adds strength and will be less likely to leak air from porosity.

The selling point for me is there is extra material cast onto the mounting surface so the back space can be adjusted to really 'customize' your fitment. I went from a set of 17" P&S Engineering wheels to the Vintage 15" with Avons. Hands down, the best investment for traction and looks I have ever spent on the Cobra!

Vintage Wheels is excellent. I had some 427-style wheels custom machined for my ERA 289 FIA. Perfect, unblemished product. Got for it.

Like the others on here, I have Bob's wheels on my car. It took a lot of work and reword to make them fit, but Bob did it all without any additional cost to be. He went way over and above to make me happy. I almost felt guilty for not paying for something since it was my car that was the odd one out. My rear axle is about 3 inches wider than normal. I found that out when I checked the propellar shafts. They are 1 1/2 inch longer than standard XKE shafts. Anyway, now the wheels fit, the car runs and Bob is my latest hero.

I have a set of 17 inch knock-offs on order from Vintage Wheels. Bob was most helpful to get the correct fit for my custom Curie 9 inch. I am confident that the I.S.O. qualified rating for the wheels centers against getting "chewed out" will do the trick and not fail. I am concerned as my motor produces 740 hp and 680 tq. No other wheel manufacturer guarantees that the centers of knock-offs will not fail.

Wanted to run the pin drives on my car but talked to a few people who claimed once the pinholes started to egg shape from street use the wheels would be junk.So it was PS Engineering for me.What do you that run pin drives have to say about street use and egg shaped holes?

I don't have my Cobra running yet but I've had Corvettes with KO wheels for 20-sum years. I don't understand the theory of the wheel pin recesses egg shaping from street driving. What holds the wheel on is the tension in the threaded hub and knockoff spinner. They are designed to be tightened to around 350 ft lbs of torque. If that tight, there isn't going to be any movement in those components to allow egg shaping the wheel holes. If the spinner isn't properly tightened, then movement may cause egg shaping, but that will be followed shortly by the spinner falling off and the wheel departing the car. Can't see how street or track driving would make any difference. Maybe someone sees something I don't.
