Computerworks, let me apologize if I violated forum protocol. But when that type of vitriol is expressed on this or any other public forum, it is the responsibility of all reasonable people to confront it. I will add no further comment regarding this matter.

To me, this "it isn't my fault" attitude is pervasive in our culture. No one accepts any responsibility for their actions any longer.

If I get caught going 18 mph over the posted speed limit, I have no one to blame but myself. It's not the cop's fault that caught me. It's not the city's fault for changing the speed limit. It's not the sun's fault for blinding me. It's all on me and my lead foot.

FWIW I got a dwi back in the mid 90's don't really know if I was drunk that night didn't blow, but had been many times in the past. One thing for sure I avoid drinking and driving at all costs to this day. I learned my lesson and the penalties are much harsher today. I actually drink more today than then lol.

I guess we have put this thing to bed by now? I have a lot of understanding for the owners of these cars.....and a TON or respect for the guys enforcing the law!! So, when I see the 'bubble gum's' in the rearview mirror, why argue or complain......I just 'mash' it and all is good! Never been caught yet and no ticket!!

ok, but hey.....admit you laughed!

Oh come on guys, we know when are doings we shouldn't and get caught a very small percentage of the time.

You're looking at it all wrong.....you are earning a citation, frame it and hang it on the wall!

We ain't driving Priuses ya know...

I was out "ripping around" a little on a Sunday afternoon. Pulled into a 76 station for fuel, and one of our local officers pulled up behind me. He got out and said "Hey, nice car. You've been jumping on it alot today".

I asked him where and he began to name about four locations, all correct and I admitted it expecting a ticket.

He said "Look, it's not like you can hide this car...a blue and white Cobra with a big #5 on the front and back? We all know about it at the station, and when you have it out we all get on our radios and keep track of it, either by sight or sound, so we pretty much know what you're up to". He then said he would give me a warning if he could take a few pics of the car, which he did. He said the pics will be on the wall at the station, just so they all know the car. He was actually very cool and admitted that he always wanted one. Before you know it, I'm showing him the engine, he's asking questions and we're talking cars...

His last comment: "Hey, I guess you know those tires (Billboards) aren't street legal! I said "Yep, I know". He just laughed and told me to be careful out there.

Respect and honesty can go along ways with these guys.

Firemen and policeman run towards trouble when people normally head the other way. Arkansas passed legislative remedy for "speed traps" to prevent towns from having a budget over 30% of budget from speeding tickets. Great idea but overturned by our Arkansas Supreme Court.

Too bad.
