It is a Ford Windsor and it is mounted in the left front with the distributor.
I think the issue may be to get a Ford unit vs the aftermarket options. I am not sure which one we are currently using, but I have been told the Ford TFI is much more reliable.
I do not know this myself, but makes sense.
