Default The most desireable Cobra ever built

At this point in my life all I can do is drool over these cars. I have dreams of owning/building one in the future. I have some time to kill today so I have been looking into the history of Shelby Cobras and came across the CSX3015 twin Paxton supercharged Cobra that belonged to Carrol Shelby. I'm sure this car is "old news" to most of you but I just read about it today for the first time. When I first came across it I thought this car must the pinnacle of Shelby Cobras. The most desireable of all the Cobras built. Then I saw it was built with a 3 speed automatic and that kind of killed it for me LOL! Still, it is obviously very rare and collectable. So... What in your opinion is the most desirable, most rare, most collectable Cobra ever built?

Definately going to be a matter of opinion but for me, it would be 3002. Given the money , I would pay anything to own it!

Since the definitive answer to this question will be presented quite early in the thread, let's add some minor difficulty by adding, "who is the most beautiful woman ever born?" There, that's better.

Nedsel, the answer to that question is easy, it had better be your wife if you know what's good for you!

Regards.

For me the question is impossible to answer because the car I find most desirable is not noted among those deemed most rare and collectible. But if I could have one Cobra, it would be Bruce Cambern's car.

Quite correct. And the obvious answer to the other question might well be, "The Cobra in my garage."

But I do have a concern about Jenny McCarthy - loud, rough, noisy and smelly?

Those of you who can't choose just one, post your top 3-5. Everybody loves to share their opinion!

For me it would have to be my car in my shop (because I am building it), second, a 427 full comp car, not restored.

CSX2000---but I would get rid of the metal flake blue and paint it one of it's (many) other "original" colors. I just saw CSX2000 while in Las Vegas last week, and next to it was a beautiful black slabside with wire wheels and red leather interior (6000 Series). Quite lovely!

Cheers,
DD

Beat me to it. The question about what to do with CSX2000 to "restore" it has always perplexed me. Which color would you use?

Best to just leave it alone, I'm sure.

Tough question- Dick Smith's car would be a really great car to own, and the Billet Kirkham with a DOHC 427 would be next on my list. Both are as rare and unique as hen's teeth and both would be a joy to drive and own, IMHO.

Sounds like a perfect match with 3002 Ned! I mean, as long as we're dreaming!

The often-repeated story about how CSX 2000 was painted many times in order to convince customers as well as the press that Cobras were being produced in great numbers is thrilling. But ... hey, isn't that the original yellow paint under the metal flake blue by that dent at the left front? Huh, I wonder where all the other paint colors went. You don't suppose Carroll was again pulling our collective chains, do you?

As much as I hate yellow... I would go with the bright "canary yellow" CSX2000 was painted during the Detroit auto show in the Ford booth.

But, then again, it is CSX2000, so I'd have to leave it metal-flake blue with the ripped up leather seats. As it was, as it would remain.

Yeah, as if this is anything more than a pipe dream...

I may have mentioned this "woulda, coulda, shoulda" story before, but back in 1974, I was offered the opportunity to purchase CSX 3002 for $15k. Here are two pics of it in Carter Gette's Cobra annex at Milbrook Ford on the day that I turned the deal down.

BTW, I didn't have $15k at the time.
