Consider a Ford Racing Crate.....mine even had a warranty...and you can take them to any Ford dealer for service and repair...and if you every need a repair (I doubt you will) I suspect the repair won't take a week to do....

that sounds like way too much engine for obeying the speed limits ??? As you know, the car only weighs about 2500lbs.....

the TKO is the way to go...

you will appreciate the quality of the Superformance, I have 11k miles on mine and it is still a thrill.... similar to a high performance motorcycle...

Thanks for all of this great advice guys (clearly based on hard earned experiences)

Awesome looking ride froggyman! but for the moment I think I'll stick to the open top - global warming seems to be turning Wellington into a blue sky paradise this summer - if this keeps up, a lid is not going to be necessary

True wayyy too much motor for the rapidly growing number of NZ highway radar traps, but there are many NZ coastal and off highway roads absolutley built for this machine - I cant wait!!!

Pretty much set on a Brent Lykins or Keith Craft motor now... I'll let you all know when I nail the overall build spec (getting closer now)

I've got the Roush 427 SR, TKO 600 w/0.82 OD, 3.46 Rear with 17" wheels on my SPF. It is turing 2,200 RPM at 60 MPH and is absolutely fine. When I cruise at 80 MPH (only in Arizona) turning 3,000 RPM you can really start to hear the engine noise and it seems a bit much. Your 15" wheels will increase the RPM a little. It is funny how human nature makes us want what we don't have. If I had a choice, I would get the 0.64. That is because I feel better cruising down the road at 70 turning lower RPMs than imagine I am on the track racing. The 0.82 OD would be better for higher speed tracking, but the 0.64 would be better for cruising down the freeway at 70.

I vote! Blykins/engine: TKO600RR w/0.82 & a 331:1 gear; with 15"rims. Perfict gear/rpm spacing 1st thru 5th. That would be a Killer drive train for a AC. I've been leaning that way, from the tranny back. Just another option to consider. Good luck!

Have you thought about locating a 65/66 427 FE/SO block and building up from there? Oil management and temp are much better in the SOs than the COs/strokers and are strong running engines depending on set up. I am running mine with a moderate cam with twin quads on a high rise. good maintenance, oils changes every 1500mi (Royal Purple), etc is important also.
