Default Everett Morrison Replicas

I have spent a lot of time researching cobra replicas and have looked at a few examples but am attracted to E-M. Would like to get some feedback on this car from owners that have some experience with the make particularly in regards to overall build quality and pros and cons of owning one. I was told on this forum that there were many complaints about customer service in the past but am optimistic that that is old news and the company has turned the corner with new ownership and a renewed confidence in the economy. I am looking at a MKIV which was build inhouse. Any and all information is much appreciated.

Hi Duc,
I started 16 years ago with an E-M frame that was built in the mid 1980's. I went to the old E-M for some parts and drawings to change the frame to Jag IRS and FE motor mounts, but never had the need for "Factory Support" after that. I bought a manual from ERA which was VERY helpful for stuff like tire pressure, stripe dimensions, etc., and in my experience, this web site answered 90% of the questions that came up 24/7. The brand that I was working on was not an issue as the guys from ERA, Kirkham, and others who stepped up with the most up to date answers for our cars. Unless you are talking about one of those high tech custom suspension race cars with a Cobra body, I would not worry about factory support, or lack there of......but then again I like to custom build as many parts as I can. Did I mention that my build took 11 years?

Good Luck!
Jon

Maybe you can convince ERA to go with a nice round tube frame, then there would be no need to be taking about E-M......

What about E-M are you attracted to? I seriously considered them when I bought my kit but ended up going with something cheaper. This was when they were still in Fl, before the company was sold, when they still had an excellent reputation.

Ask yourself this - do you know of anyone who has actually recieved a kit from them since they moved to TX? I'm not saying they haven't actually built or sold any, I just have not heard of, seen, or talked to anyone who has one and I have attended many national level Cobra and kit car events in the last few years. If you do go with E-M, don't give them any money until you pick up the complete kit. It will be very hard to get any deposit or up-front payments back if they don't deilver.

I haven't heard of them actually ripping anyone off since the owner change and move to Houston. I suspect Pete is speculating here. They do have a lousy track record of responding and customer support since the move and we have wondered often if they're still in business.

As for the product, I'm biased for sure but I really believe they have some of the best glass work of any replica - period! And the tube frame? It's as good as any out there. Mine is an older build (1992) when they were still in Florida and is not a SS frame. I just wish they would pay attention to business and try to compete again.

Tim

I also have one built in 92 with a 460
I love it and beat the snot out of it"
Glass work is flawless on mine.

But as said often " it's the guy that builds it that
Determines the final results.
