You know, 99.999% of the population could not tell you who Caspar Milquetoast was.

I don't believe Steve Sunshine for one nanosecond.
I've ridden in some 700hp Cobras that would catch traction and MOVE. Learning to drive a Cobra is part of the experience. Full throttle input with 300 hp will let you see what's behind you pretty quickly. Adding horsepower just means that you have to have more common sense and driving experience.

Part of my job is helping customers qualify exactly what they want and also what they need.
It is what it is....
With that being said, I'm swamped anyway and don't have time to fart.

Wrapping Up...

No, the engine, as she is now, is a wonderful engine. I wouldn't want to change her for a 40 or 50 peak HP increase. I have not ruled out a second engine though, with free flowing pipes. I will consider that option in a timely fashion.
In the meantime, to close out what was supposed to be a one page thread about removing red/blue coatings, but what grew, thanks to Bernica, in to a filter housing replacement, here is a shot with the new K & N 9" round filter installed under the Xtreme Top. The total height gain is only one quarter inch. The second shot is through the scoop with a 3/4" roll of black electrical tape sitting on the top. The roll of tape just barely touches with the hood latched. BTW, the whole thing (Xtreme Top and 9" Filter) cost less than a hundred bucks. Fifteen minutes to modify the base, half hour to tape off and paint the filter top. And, you can still put the old S&H filter top on if you so choose. This is a sub-hour/sub-Franklin project that even RodKnock could bang out.

I think you're overestimating my abilities.
Hard to believe Brent's turning away business. The economy must be good.

The economy isn't that good. I just can't get parts.
I waited 13 weeks for one set of custom pistons. They came in wrong. I have a set of TFS heads that have been on order for over a month. One set of AFR heads that have been on order for the same amount.
Aluminum FE blocks are a month behind. LONG stroke cranks are backordered.
I'm not turning away business, but I've been handing out ETA's and the manufacturers are putting it to me. My fear is that everything is going to show up all at once and then I will be up poo-poo creek. I've got 5 FE's, 3 Windsors, 1 stroked 460, and 1 Mod motor sitting here, all waiting on *something*. Trying to finish up Gary Bowman's engine and I've ordered $500 worth of -12 and -16 fittings trying to get everything plumbed. He also requested all stainless steel socket head fasteners, so if I need something odd-ball, Ace Hardware doesn't have it.
I wouldn't mind at all to take orders, small deposits, etc., but lead time is not too swift.
Just being honest. Excuses, excuses, right?

With almost 15,000 posts, that certainly can't be a surprise.
