Yeah, that happens. What I learned (the hard way) is that you need to retorque that nut multiple times after assembly. I think the splines don't seat all the way when you initially torque it down. As you drive it, they seat a little further, and the nut becomes loose.
I also put some antiseize on the splines. I might want to take them apart one day.
