A few years ago my son (750HP on the forum) located a 1979 Arntz in Washington state and went through the paperwork nightmare of bringing it into Australia for me. It arrived in a condition that left both of us stunned; it was as close to perfect in every aspect as you could wish. The photos we had obtained before the sale did not come close to conveying what an absolute find this car was, and needless to say it's been the joy of my life ever since.

When I saw Dick's car on Cobra Country, which I check regularly, it was like finding the Arntz all over again. The story of its life only added to my excitement. I've always considered ERAs to be among the top three most desirable Cobras and EXP002's history just adds to its mystique.

Up until now I've counted myself very fortunate that I own a car, the like of which comes along once in a lifetime, but I can truthfully say that this car of Dick's would be an honoured and respected companion to Arnie if circumstances permitted. It is a true part of Cobra history and folk lore, it has been well used and cherished by its previous owners, and I for one would be proud to be its next guardian before passing it on to the next in line of its stewardship.

Dick I know how much you must dread the day this beautiful car leaves your home and I hope you find a buyer who is prepared and willing to honour its heritage.
Don I have been contacted by one of your mates from down under. He wants to know about the paperwork he would need to import the car. Could you give me a contact in Australia that he could get ahold of for information?

Thanks, Dick

That's easy... just negotiate a couple of return airfares into the price

Just on the side, while I was drooling over the pics you have posted on cobra country, it just clicked that you are in Idaho, near Boise?

We have a couple of boys on basketball scholarships playing for Boise State Uni. Not sure if you know Anthony Drimic and Iggy Hadziomerovic, they are a couple of handy guards. I have known these two boys for a very log time (Iggy - since he was 6). They were also part of a state rep team I was involved in. Anyway if your car does end up over here, at least you'll have a couple of Aussies there to remind you of the connection.

take care,

Boise State University seems to like players from all over the globe. The football team has 2 players from Holland. Your 2 boys on the basketball team are doing a great job for Boise. Especially Anthony, as he was the team points leader the 12-13 season. We expect great things from them both this season.

I think it would be worse if they put a chebby engine in it.......

If that happened I think she would just refuse to leave the garage. Way to embarrassed to be seen on the road.

JAYD I'm sure that this is another one of your "honest question" too. I don't need to sell the car nor do I even really want to sell the car. So if you are planning on waiting for a fire sale or any big reduction I wouldn't hold your damn breath.

I'm kinda getting there myself so I bought a 500SL to take on long trips. Easier to get in and out of and has a removable top so I can still get the wind in my hair - BUT it ain't a COBRA so I'm gonna drive mine until I need a hoist to get in and out and then I'll pass it on to someone younger. Tough choice but it's gonna get all of us sooner or later - at least you had 9 years of fun!! Some never do.

I checked out the club cobra ad and read the history. Very cool to document all the owners and visit them. If someone had brought one of my old cars to show me that would just make my day.

With ERA 002 having such a well documented history, it begs the question if ERA 001 has such a rich history also?

What a goose!

Dick there was a guy on the Australian site whose poor grammar and inane comments, similar to the above, were driving me nuts. I put him on my ignore list! Life for me on the forum is once more pleasurable and engaging.

Might I suggest you consider the same with this dill? Life's too short to waste time reading his nonsense.

Carl the rumors that I have heard are that EXP001 may still be owned by it's original owner.

I use to have the patience to not let people bother me with their tactless comments. But as I have aged I seem to have lost most of my patience, especially with fools.

God..It is like putting down a beloved pet
However, Motorheads Mustang "withdraw" idea may work for you. I am 67 and have a cherry 1990 GT 5.0 5 speed convertible (50k miles) that I plan to hang onto for this very reason...Good luck....ox

Nothing against GM. Great cars. However, I never ever could understand why anyone would put a GM, Mopar or any other motor but a Ford in a cobra. I actually remember seeing one with a VW engine. OMG..Barf..........

Bill I'm glad to hear that Randy still has the car. Wish I could keep mine forever but it just can't be so. No matter how much I wish to have my youth back.
