Wow, fairly similar to the sketches I've done for the "family compound" I plan on building! Mine will have a 3 wide x 2 deep main garage, a small cottage next to it for guests/elderly family, and then a 2 car garage for the "toys" and the overlooking loft space (with HVAC).

Cheers!

I'm following up an earlier post when I said I would post photos of my garage when I had them. Here's one to show some of the features I used.

The walls are white with an 8" red stripe above a 4" gray stripe at the ceiling. The floor is mostly gray indoor/outdoor carpet with an island of MotorMat tiles where the cars are parked. The cabinets are from Sam's Club with a custom area for the TV. The trash can is a recycled 55 gallon plastic drum. This photo was taken at a Garage Reveal party I held yesterday.

Our shops (2 buildings) have progressed in size as the hobbies became more involved. We now house 2 daily drivers, 1 muscle car,4 motorcycles, 5 tractors with implements,a fully setup machine shop,a lift table in almost 3000 sq ft. The machine shop is fully winterized and heated thinking about setting up a little more floor space to be heated.
These are working shops no painted walls but very nice polished concrete floors.

With the exception of a few touch-ups, the steel beam, and the doors, the painting is done.

Me too! I was amazed how much the red changed the interior......credit for the stripe goes to the wife. The darker blue was a little leap of faith because I wanted to avoid the dark cave look but going with the white definitely off-sets the blue.

Now I'm debating on what color to paint the steel beam. Red is out and the blue might make it too busy so I think I'll go with the white to keep it simple.

Mike,
My garage is not like yours, but it does have several vertical supports protruding from the walls. I also debated whether to accent them or paint them like the walls. In the end, I painted them like the walls and I'm happy with the results. Here's brief video panning around my garage. In it you may notice the vertical supports I mentioned. Click here.

Before I give a progress report I wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions, from the beer fridge (can't imagine having a garage w/out one) to the brass poles (still tweaking the sale's pitch on that one to the wife).

Here's the latest - Started installing the laminated flooring upstairs and I'm about a quarter of the way finished. One thing is for sure.....nobody will ever compare my garage pics with an Ansel Adams photo.

Friday Dwight will finish the electrical in time for me to start prepping the garage floor so I'll be able to apply the epoxy paint this weekend.

I still have a ton of work remaining (touch up painting, trim, stair threads) but here's a panoramic shot I took with my cell last night.
