Original Cobras on Santa Monica Pier
Just moved to Pasadena 2 weeks ago. My ERA is still in Miami with my wife (and house) while she gets our Miami home sold. Went to Supercar Sunday in Woodland Hills early this morning .. a couple of replica cobras were there and a Ford GT40 pulled in - owned by Marvin Dunn who was involved with the "new" GT40 design for Ford Motor Co for the 2005-06 build. His company made chassis components and the body "in white".
Marvin mentioned that there was a Shelby Fest at the Santa Monica pier and I headed down there. A good collection of performance ford products, new Shelby Mustangs, quite a few replica cobras and replica Brock Coupes. But the stars of the show were 10 orginal cobras. 9 were 289 cars and one original 427 SC in the original gold paint ... it had been repainted Blue and most of the blue was gone. I was amazed at how close my ERA 289 resembles the originals ... engine compartment, trunk, cockpit layout and body.
