Default What electronics are you running ?

I just read "Gumball cb radio" and it got me thinking. I run a lot of electronic stuff and was wondering what other people are running in their Cobra? I run a Browning Baron cb , Uniden Bear Tracker scanner, Escort radar detector, Alpine stereo, in helmet intercom system, plus some "Black Box devices" just to stay out of trouble.

The only electronics on my car run the engine.

Just curious... where are you plumbing into your chassis power? Or are you going straight to battery? I am about to wire in a 12v plug hidden under the dash to run my GPS, V1 and phone charger and think I would prefer to wire into an ignition on / hot only circuit, rather than going to the battery.... but that's just a guess on my part.

Cell phone. Might put a camera recording device in the car so that if I get into a wreck some day I can prove it was not my fault. Get in a wreck in one of these and any and everybody assumes you are at fault.

I run sports car rallies in my Arntz Cobra and need lots of electronics. You can see most of it in this old picture:

The K40 police scanner display is hidden behind the steering wheel on the left side. Molded into the top of the steering column is a very bright oil pressure warning LED. On the right side of the steering wheel is the TSD computer driver's display. Below that is the Monaco Systems countdown timer. Next is the Alfa Elite Navigator's module. To the right is our reader board for the rally instructions. It is internally lit with LED's and has an external light also. The clear dome under the mirror is a voltage status indicator, green, yellow, and VERY BRIGHT red. The Valentine 1 is not shown, I put it under the seat when I park. After this picture was taken, I bought a Garmin GPS and now that takes up some room on top of the dash. Peeking out from under the passenger side foot box is my old MSD 6AL. That has been replaced with a Ford EDIS distributorless system. You can see that in this link: Ugly engine bay

We don't take these rallies very seriously. :^)

RS,
I read that the Air Force added computer directed throttle/speed control to their stealth fighters. Perhaps you could tie a cruise control system into your stuff to reduce the probability of arriving early or late to near zero. Of course that would mean you'd have to upgrade your clocks to read in nano seconds.

Thor,
Not much electronics in my car. When I built my wiring harness, I included an accessory circuit that is hot when the master power switch is on. I added a 12v outlet to that circuit (hidden under the dash) to power my smart phone (i.e., music, GPS).

JL audio 600/4 amp and 4 x 525 coax speakers, fed by iPhone. I ran a separate fused AWG 4 power line directly from the battery to the amp. I also added a hidden (under dash) 12v marine/stainless power socket. I may add a hardwired power feed for my V1 too.
