If it were my car:
A) I would state the facts B) Tell the story C) Provide evidence and get trusted folks to see the remains D) Be proud of ownership of such a part of history E) Get it back together F) Share it with the world . Perception becomes reality and it would be a shame for the owner to let that overtake what he has............... |
Mike McCluskey doesn't serve as the Cobra Police, as he runs a restoration shop and it's not his duty to vet every car that enters it. Similarly, the registrar is not charged with the responsibility of filling the police role, either, especially in a situation where all the supporting facts have not been revealed. That function remains the responsibility of those individuals who believe they have a vested interest in protecting the rights of ownership, such as they may be, to a given VIN and, as a result, the true history of the vehicle in question. The registry states clearly that there are problems with CSX 3016, and that two different threads of history exist on the car's supposed remains. That covers details the registrar can support with documentation, and it should be sufficient to warn potential buyers from over-spending on the car. One can reasonably anticipate legal action to settle the rightful claims to ownership of the legitimate car at some point in the future.

CSX6024 is a weird bird - a 427 Cobra with a 289. Sold tonight for 84.7K. Kind of a steal I think.

If you go to the auction link for the DragonSnake check out the highlights column and click the additional info link. Lot of history there and old pictures.
Wonder if it still has all that writing on the trunk. Quote:

Mecum has just posted some nice vintage footage of GT/104 at Daytona 1965. Enjoy!

I was just looking at Mecum site yesterday. There are others in the video like a yellow/orange cobra. Trying to watch the auction, GT is scheduled for 3pm Sat. |
Well I think original reserve was 7.5 and when bidding reached 7.75 reserve was dropped to 7 million. Took a few minutes and hammer price was 7.
|
Also at Mecum Houston: The Costilow/Larson drag racing Cobra (CSX2093) did not sell at a high bid of $1.1 million USD.

Not sure if it's posted yet but I believe Russo & Steele will be having a King Cobra in one of their California auctions. Either Newport Beach or Monterey. After reading the description of the last King Cobra sold and seeing this one... CM/5/64 being advertised as a factory team car 'Bob Bondurant" I'm just not sure of all the histories involved in the KCobra.

1963 Ford Cobra for sale | Hemmings Motor News
I don't have any books with me to give any more intel. |
It's CSX 2120, a worm and sector steering car that has been flipped recently about every other year. Looks like a nice car, but I wish someone would buy it and keep it for a while.
