Poor ol' CSX3259. It seems to keep making the rounds of the auction circuit, looking for a home with someone to love it...

It's been to Bonhams Monterey 2010 (DNS), RM Auctions Scottsdale 2011 (SOLD), RM Auctions Amelia Island 2013 (SOLD) and now to Auctions America Burbank 2014.

*sigh*

CSX2005 is going to be offered at the Gooding & Co. auction in Pebble Beach, in Aug 2014: 1962 Shelby 260 Cobra | Gooding & Company

I saw this car, freshly restored, at the Monterey Historics in 2012 and it was simply stunning.

Monterey Auction: CSX 2005, in addition to SunDude's posting.

From Hemmings.com:

“ In the early days of Cobra production, back when a Ford 260-cu.in. V-8 with a two-barrel carburetor was the engine of choice, Carroll Shelby couldn’t afford to have dissatisfied customers. Had CSX2005 not broken down on its first owner’s cross-country trip, the car would never have starred in Ronald Reagan’s last big-screen movie, and stars like James Garner (and potentially Steve McQueen) may never have wheeled the car around Riverside courtesy of the Carroll Shelby School of High Performance Driving. History, however, scripted things differently, and when the 1962 Shelby 260 Cobra carrying chassis number CSX2005 crosses the stage this August in Pebble Beach, the fifth Cobra built brings with it a very interesting history. -

CSX3359 at RM Auctions Monterey (Aug 2014)

Well, it looks like the real CSX3359 is going to be offered for sale at RM Auctions Monterey, Aug 15-16, 2014.

The catalogue description has yet to be filled out: 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra | Monterey 2014 | RM AUCTIONS. However, this is what the RM website has to say about the car so far:

With only 1,819 original miles, this second-to-last Shelby 427 Cobra made has documentation from new, was owned by noted collectors, and remains incredibly authentic. When's the last time you saw original "sunburst" wheels and blue dot tires?

Lee Weinstein of NJ, long-time owner of 2208, passed away unexpectedly last spring. He left the car to his sister, who put a local shop in charge of selling it. But enough potential buyers tried to find her and negotiate a deal that she decided to consign it to an auction on the other coast instead. It's a good car.

Ned: yes it is a very nice car. The shop in charge is very close to me and does all my body work. I am friendly with the shop's owner.

If anyone happens to be interested in the car PM me. I can put you in touch with the estate.
