I haven't seen any Cobras listed yet for RM Auctions, Russo and Steele, and Gooding & Co. in Scottsdale this January, but things may change.

The AC MK IV "AK1120" listed was sold new by our dealership.......it was received with shipping damage from unloading at the port. They drove it out of the container without ramps and dropped it on the oil cooler scoop pushing the fenders and nose up. We estimated almost 10K to repair. Mike George bought it damaged and had it repaired by a guy who later worked at my restoration shop. I have photos of the damage. I will bet the car is represented by the auction company as "mint, never dinged!"

And it definitely did NOT have "factory air conditioning"!!!! "Four speed" T10?!?! And then it's a "four speed T5"!

Mike passed away a couple years ago and most of his collection was sold off at auction. While it my still be on the New York title in Mike's name it has had another owner (at least one additional) who is now selling it. I hate these oversold auction companies descriptions.

OK, so the auction company is hawking a Testarossa that was given to Don Johnson by Enzo personally in 1989.......after Enzo died?

I'm sure that's a simple typo mistake. lol
I think he passed in '88.

Yes, he died in 88 but he came back just to give this car to Don Johnson. I would question Enzo giving ANYTHING to ANYONE based upon his reputation!

One of them has been for sale for a long time at a high-end used exotic car dealership on Long Island:

That is the car being offered here, after a repaint from the blue with white stripes.

1985 CCX 12-16-2013 01:14 PM

Has the other one been seen or offered in the past?

Nedsel 12-16-2013 11:38 PM

Neither. It is said to be in pieces.

Supersf 12-17-2013 04:10 PM

cool, thanks for posting. Any speculation of what the King Cobra will go for?

1985 CCX 12-17-2013 04:14 PM

Ned

Which is the real deal?
The parts or the car?

Nedsel 12-17-2013 04:32 PM

I'll leave that determination to the time when any and all of the parties that claim ownership produce their evidence, and then we'll see what happens.

I thought I read that McCluskey did the resto on this example of 3016. If that is true, does his fine work add any credibility to it being "it" or is he simply another hired gun and his efforts add value to the overall product?

Nedsel 12-18-2013 10:28 AM

Mike's work on any Cobra adds value. But if what he starts with ends up not being the car it was thought to be, even his skills can't alter that reality.

rodneym 12-18-2013 11:52 AM

You mean Mike's not the Cobra police? :p

DMXF 12-19-2013 05:10 PM

Denial

I suspect someone who could end up unfortunately bidding on that auction would appreciate evidence being swept under the rug, but that's just my take on it.
