Default How might I confirm by Cobra Replica was built by North American Fiberglass?

The person who sold me my 1966 Cobra Replica said it was built by NAF in 1974. However, rather than a North American Fiberglass plate on the firewall, there is just the serial number 1L9CT11S1PB155073. Was I spoofed or did NAF initially build these without an official nameplate?

Even the earliest of NAF's had a NAF plate on them.

NAF was not around in 1974, and the US did not start using a 17 digit VIN sequence until 1981 at the earliest.

VIN may be an early 90's state of CT issued VIN.........Newer CT issued VIN's are shorter in nature

My NAF FIA 289 has a VIN n° registered in CT. CTxxxxx (5 digits) and a NAF Plate.

The last two n° on the plate are the year of build. Car registered as 1965 AC COBRA.

Post some pictures, overall, eng bay firewall, chassis, rear suspension. NAF bodys have glassed in labels-tags. Some locations are inside of cowl, both sides, top of the tunnel, bottom front drivers footwell in eng bay. Like Bill said the Vin is probably a state issued number.

Cool

As further follow up, attached is an insert from the fall 1985 (could not find my 1980 or 1982 versions this am) NAF Sales packet.

While it shows NAF as building fiberglass bodies since 1958, it also clearly states that they started the production of Cobras in 1979. If memory serves me correctly, it was in the fall of 1979 that "Job 1" rolled out of their Cobra molds.

And again, the US did not switch over from 11 digit to 17 digit VIN's until January 1st, 1981 when it became law..........
