You have "RW" there so I take it you are asking about rear wheel horsepower - and not engine dyno?

482rwhp

Just a guess, but most people aren't going to know their rwhp, so when they click this link the poll isn't going to be very accurate.

Just take your fly wheel horsepower times .85. Close enough for Government work.

That would make mine around 400 HP. But I didn't have it built for high power levels. The 530 + ft lbs of flywheel torque is nice though.

Yeah, you might have been a little clearer on what you wanted. Everyone knows their engine HP and if you are just going to take 85% of your RWHP, why not just ask engine HP? Not my poll, but my 2 cents......I entered 501-550 for my engine HP.

What makes you think everyone knows their engine hp? In my opinion, engine hp is for bragging rights and a marketing tool. Doesn't sound as impressive when someone finds out their Roush 550 hp engine is really only making 425 rwhp when you slap on some restrictive sidepipes and use a Mustang dyno.

612 hp/615 tq at the crank... 456 hp at the wheels...
(Dart-blocked aluminum 427 Windsor stroker)

I think a 15% reduction is overly optimistic for most. The side pipes are lossy... and the rear end CAN be... IRS vs. solid axle... all depends on the setup...

You have about a 25% loss which seems a little high, 20% is the rule of thumb I've read elsewhere, maybe something going on with your driveline.

Did not know that. Were the race engineers of the day unaware also? Or does this only apply to "streetable" baffled side pipes that keep the noise within somewhat acceptable limits?

TT, I should have said something like: IMO, more people know their flywheel/engine HP than their rear wheel HP because they bought or built a engine with an advertised/expected HP. You have to go one step further with a dyno to get the RWHP.

Since CC is not where "normal people" ): talk about cars..... maybe a better poll would be what percent of Cobra owners have had a dyno? I've had a dyno and don't know where it is right now, but sure I have more than 500 HP somewhere in there like every other Cobra on this site. )

When I am showing my Cobra to someone, no one has asked me what the rear wheel HP is.

Well this poll has just become useless, if some people are posting rear wheel and others flywheel this data doesn't work.

OP make a new poll for fly wheel hp.
