Agreed 100%, not even close to as cool, great car but the Cobra is King when it comes to 1960's muscle sports cars, you can't argue with power to weight ratio...

Looking for my 3rd Cobra. This will sit next to it in the garage. Very fun but in a more civilized way.

Please cite/post links with the reviews from "all the car mags", not suppositions and generalizations. Otherwise, your comment is more Internet nonsense (aka BS).

"Not nearly as good looking" is obviously subjective. Tiger owners feel that Tigers are a better looking car. They're fanatical about their cars. As for faster, I suppose that depends on the individual driver, Tiger and/or Cobra.
And they're real production cars, appreciating quickly, not replicas of originals.

Buddy,
I looked at your car on 6speed. If it wasn't red, I might have flown out to take a look. I'm thinking of moving away from the cobra and into a 996TT (prefer a cabriolet)
I love the cobra, but there are only so many days that are not too hot, not too cold, not raining...and my wife wont drive the cobra (I bought her a 66 mustang convertible, she barely drives that too. )
I'm thinking I'd get more use out of a 996 or 997

I owned a 1966 Tiger, with the 289. They were harder to work on than my existing 460 in my Cobra. My last work truck had a 650 hp diesel by Caterpiller. More get up and go than I needed pulling 80,000 pound payloads. I get the same thrill driving my Cobra, but the Cobra is much faster. The car gets to legal speed faster than I can think about. And, the sound of the big block rumbling at 1800 rpm doing 100 klms is like listening to a love song. It has the only stereo I will ever need. The pipes! :3DSMILE:

Not a reliability issue but a drivability issue with a 2015
2015 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S First Drive - Motor Trend
My co-driver and I laughed more than a few times at how the new transmission works in daily driving conditions. Pulling away from a stop, the clutch is slow to fully engage. You can hear and feel it slipping, and when the shifts happen, your head and body bob forward and back with each subsequent shift, unless you pin yourself to the seat back. It would be funny if it weren't such an incredibly annoying characteristic. Since this is how the car will be driven at least 95 percent of the time, for me, it's a deal-breaker. Give me an auto, or that manual used in the first V12 Vantage. Aston says it can't fit a dual-clutch in this car.
Look I have nothing against Aston Martins they make some of the most beautiful cars around. But there's no way your going to buy a used Aston and not pay a lot for parts and service vs a Cobra.
Do you even like Cobra's?

When did a $185,000+ new car fit the parameters of this "dollar for dollar" discussion?
But beautiful car.
Do I even like Cobras? Uh, I own one. ;)

I'll give you a Tiger and raise you a Cobra...kids today don't even know what a Sunbeam is, Cobra a different story, Honda Civics will probably be worth more than a Tiger one day when all these rice burners grow up and make some money. Those will be the cars that remind them of their youth, lol lol...not a Tiger...

"Dollar for dollar nothing can compete with a Cobra." That was the premise of this thread. Of course, you should have expected some dissent right, especially when you use an absolute term like "nothing."
As for selling my Cobra, why? Because I like more than one car? Most of us do. And most of us own multiple cars, as I do. No need to sell, buying cars is not a zero sum game.

For ME there is nothing that gives me everything I'm looking for at that price. And yes I own multiple cars and for ME dollar for dollar nothing compares to my CTS-V for a four door luxury sedan. Go ahead and let's hear about your Mercedes or BMW. LOL

Agree 100%,over the years have owned a lot of muscle cars none have done it all for me like the big block Cobra. To top it off it will never rust can do almost anything I want to it without hurting value. It is easy to work on somewhat now that all the special tools and equipment are here in the shop.
Just knowing it is out in the shop makes me feel good inside and the wife loves the car.
