Tire suppliers? Discount? Tirerack? etc?

So I am in the market for some Toyos for my new rims.

Discount tire does not carry them.
Tirerack has shipping fees....

Has anyone ever used: Tire Crawler.com? they have free shipping.

(not sure they have the tires in stock.. yet)

Every single time you get work done you risk scratches. Find a tire store that does ultra expensive Mercedes rims to to the installation. My last trip to discount tire and they scratched my rims. Bottom line I charge $100 per hour and estimated 2 hours to remove the scratches and that what discount tire paid me. I don't really give a sheet about $200 but i am tired of zero accountability. If everyone held people feet to the fire like I careless damage would not occur.

In the end it took right at 2 hours.

You also may want to not consider having the tires installed by a discount store if you have knock-offs. I do not want somebody making minimum wage attempting to get my spinners off and certainly do not trust them to install them properly. I am planning on checking out some garages and finding the one who I can trust to not wreck my rims and will allow me to loosen and tighten the spinners.

Does Toyo still offer the 15" sizes? I thought not......

Carry your wheels in to wherever you end up. Many shops will not R&R knock-offs due to liability concerns. When you are "carry-in" that issue is removed.

I agree and Carrie mine in, I had no desire for a circus atmosphere if I showed up Ina a cobra but it was anyway!!

Thanks for the feedback guys.
(I will be mounting the tires myself on a friends machine)

..Note: The question is: Has anyone ever used: Tire Crawler.com? they have free shipping.

Don't know anything about Tirecrawler but Toyo no longer offers the 15" tires in the correct sizes.

We have delivered several MK IIIs on the Mickey Thompson S/T tires and the MT S/R tires and the customers have been happy with them. We just put some S/R's on Jim Kellogg's MK III.

Beware of Discount Tire Stores BJ's Club, COSTCO, etc, I was informed by a Tire Expert and confirmed this with Michelin a couple of years ago that Discount stores obtain 2nd and 3rd quality tires after the Tire Stores had their 1st Grade pick.

What does this mean? well imagine your wife goes to Bloomingdale and buys you a suit for $500.00. You go to Marshall's and see the same suit for $200.00 same stock # and exactly the same suit why?
Irregular or 2nd class is the answer, same thing happens to Tires.

I have a Lincoln Navigator that came from the factory with Michelin tires which lasted 50K, pretty good performance. I bought the same tires again at BJ's club to last me 15K. I hit the proverbial ceiling when BJ's told me that the warranty was only 15K. Called Michelin and after much BS I was told these are 2nd class tires destined for Discount stores. No replacement for me.....!@$$%^&

I don't know if Tire Rack qualifies as a Discount source, I have purchased many tires from them and the tires have always perform to par. But just be aware of this issue.
Regarding the fact that they employ individuals who don't know their heads from a hole in the ground well that is another issue that we all have to deal with--just careful when you place your Baby in the hands of incompetence.
Hope this helps
Lou

Tire Rack was good to me on getting 18's. Knowledgeable help and gave me the straight scoop on a couple of options, was not focused on selling me the most expensive tire but best tire for my application - and they do have deals from time to time.

madmaxx 03-22-2014 02:08 PM

With our litigatious society I doubt any manufacturer would knowingly sell 2nd grade tires

blown871 03-22-2014 02:25 PM

I ordered from TireCrawler.
FREE shipping and they have a discount when you check out on line.
could not beat the price.
Tracking shows they will be here Wednesday.
