I am debating between two cars and I would love your opinions
Hey guys,
I am new to this forum and I used to have a 1968 mustang fast back with a 429 which i recently sold and made a pretty good return on it. I want to buy a shelby cobra replica now. I am interested in these two cars and I am wondering what you guys think they are worth and which you think is a better car.
Here is the link one of them. How much would u guys valve this car at?
Its made by Midstates Classic Cars and parts with a pro charger blower and a 351.
1965 Used Shelby COBRA 427 SC at Celebrity Cars Las Vegas, NV, IID 10698350
Here is the other car I attached the pictures
Everett Morrison cobra
There is no link for it on line so i have to post the pictures my self They are asking 40k for the blue Everett Morrison it has a 428 Cobra jet engine. I have build sheet for it but i am not sure how to attach it

I like the Midstates! I like the single roll bar and a blower! Nothing wrong with the EM. Great to see you on here Shawn. Mark

Welcome Shawn
You cannot go wrong with the 428" car, 750hp is a little excessive in these small short wheelbase rear drive cars of course one mans opinion. Tough decision good luck.

I like the midstates, obviously it's had more money poured into it, but what's your planned usage ? Street/show, or drags/track ? What's your hands -on mechanical experience ?
Having to find and pay for someone to take care of that blown and injected engine would be pricy. Also, when looking at these cars at dealers, take everything with 2 grains of salt ! I.E. the description from celebrity cars shows wheels as " Halibrand knock-offs" but they are bolt-ons !

As was said above, it depends some on how you plan to use it. If you're just looking for a weekend cruiser, then it doesn't much matter about the suspension, brakes and other things that do matter at the track. If that's the case, I like the looks of the Midstates better (and I own an EM). But if you're going to get some track time and instructions in high performance driving, the dual roll bars will be a plus. And some EM's have better than average suspensions. It depends on the car.

That Midstates looks like a lot of car for the money. Better snap that up if you want it.

I think you'd be a lot better off looking around more. Both priced to high I think, especially Midstates car. Even with what appears to have big money under the hood, but nothing looks even close to original car. Real knockoffs, correct dash, etc. Just my opinion though,, each to his own I guess. I can't understand even wanting one of these cars today, if it didn't look as it did,,, back in-the-day. (other than for tracking use.)
I'm sorry if stepped on anyone's toes, just my opinion. Be smart about this purchase,
( LOOK AROUND a while.)

Midstates hands down looks very well built and solid car. You cannot go wrong with a 351 Cleveland engine, just be judicious with that much HP and the weight of the car, they are very unforgiving.
Good luck
Lou
PS
Not too crazy about the color of the EM...

I've heard good thing about both EM and Midstates...Any chance you can drive them? I've seen great pictures only to get there in person and they look like totally different cars....The dash on the Midstates would drive me crazy but other than that it looks sharp. Drive both of them and your decision will be a lot easier! Good Luck!

Steve made a comment about the dash, which caught my eye as well. You can clearly see that someone mounted instruments in what used to be a glove box and re-vinyled the dash without dealing with the glovebox opening. That, and wires hanging down is a red flag regarding attention to detail. Doesn't necessarily mean the car is not a quality build, but a red flag to check out nonetheless.

Hard to tell without seeing them in person. For my taste, I like the blue color and FE better. BTW, the interior in the Midstates does not look like leather, it looks like vinyl, if that matters.

This is not easily fixable. If you can live with it, ok.... But if I were sitting in the passenger seat, it would be hard for me not to poke my finger through the vinyl in to the glove box outlet.

Well... I think I disagree. I've redone a Midstates dash.
The dash is easy to remove. Remove the vinyl, glass in the area you want filled. Drill new holes for the gauges. Recover cover the dash, reinstall the gauges. Could be done in a weekend allowing for time for the fiberglass to set.
I guess 'easy' can be relative but it is certainly not difficult.

a flat no...to the EM
the midstates is ok, over priced for sure. concerned with a 351 motor with a blower. note it was rebuilt along with the supercharger. why?
if the midstates was priced in the mid 30's....
i would keep looking.....plenty of other fine choices out there

Guys,
Thank for your opinions I really appreciate it. I am trying to see if i can get the midstates for under 40k.
I never realized that about the dash I would want to poke my finger through it too.
Do the blowers tend to have a lot of problems? Like overheating or blowing up the engine or any thing like that?
I will try and use that against them as a bargaining tool.
Is it hard to sell these cars? Is there a big market for them? I would want to sell it after about a year. My mustang sold instantly
I also have a build sheet for the EM but the file is too big and doesn't let me post it. Do you guys no any tricks to up loading the file?
Thanks!!
Shawn

I don't really have any mechanical experience. I would use the car as a weekender and the track very rarely.
