Does he advertise on the Cobra sites. I can see selling on ebay the parts he listed but I wouldn't think of looking for a restorers ad on ebay.

rodneym 06-12-2014 10:27 AM

No offense, NYG, but he's out of your price league.
There's a $50k Cobra out there for you, but it won't be from 'him'.
If 50 is your budget, then there'd be plenty of folks here to help you find a great Cobra Hot Rod for that money.

LMH 06-12-2014 10:35 AM

I've dealt with them. Nice people. I think the person I talked to was Bella.

You have to get off of ebay. lol But will check out the Kirkhams.

Too many autos out there to track but I get the inside intel on some. Keeping an eye out for these. Interested to see what a Veyron will go for at auction. Keeping an eye on these.

Also my L88 is crying out for some company

Rodney,
Thanks for the heads up! I'm in LA end of the month and looking for a kit builder for a cheapo duct tape hot rod.

Onyx,
My family was invited to the RM auction at Sotheby's last year and they had a Bugatti Veyron (1 of a kind color). Bidding started at (I think) $500K and a bidder immediately yelled out $2 MILLION! Room silence. Hammer! Fastest RM auction sale ever for the fastest production car. (Hennessey Venom is not a real production car; it is a fake Lotus).

rodneym 06-12-2014 12:00 PM

I can't help you with "cheapo" or "kit builder", but I can help you with duct tape.

RodKnock 06-12-2014 12:11 PM

Seems like NYG has a preoccupation with "fake" (e.g., watches, Cobra's, etc.). So if he's visiting LA in near future, then I certainly hope he doesn't have any issues with the concept of women's breast enhancement (i.e., fake boobs). LA has an abundance of them or so I hear.

rodneym 06-12-2014 12:19 PM

Roddo,
Are you implying that I must be fake to be a boob?
I do ok without enhancements.
:3DSMILE:

But seriously, if NYG is for real, then he just needs to establish his budget and time frame. I think this collective 'boob trust' could give him good, honest advice. It will save him money, time and make him happier at the end of the day.

Am I starting to sound like patrickt? I need an honesty check, friends! ;)

RodKnock 06-12-2014 12:28 PM

NYG has a 5-10 year time horizon. So by that time, he will likely have moved on and started to aggravate the Ferrari Forums with questions about whether the 246 Dino is a real Ferarri or not.

rodneym 06-12-2014 12:44 PM

That fakeydo Ferrari is one of the best they ever didn't make.

Jamo 06-12-2014 12:55 PM

...'cept for the Stratos. Another one I could get in but had to roll out ugly. Gerry swears he can make one I can fit in...I personally think he's full of it.

OnyxRider 06-12-2014 01:18 PM

I think NYG with that what are we teaching our children...garage...comment came from a eco-friendly guy. In reality it's not going to change anything...yet.

If you are interested in something as in a Cobra go to some local meets and ask for rides. Someone will give you a ride. Just don't tell them who you are. lol

Traction control and all other equipment is good and all but don't forget this. These cars can kill. Even the best fakeydoo Cobra...they can kill. You have to think what you really want and if it's a Cobra many on here have the experience(blood sweat & tears) to advise. A friend of my step-son around 26 who is into GTR's...well I just left the room after he got heated because I told him he was wrong. Once in awhile I will take someone for a ride especially if they want to hit 200mph. Well he went crying to his momma after getting out of the Mercedes McLaren. I told him not even my fastest car would kick his butt.

You sound like Jesse from Just a Car Guy blog about calling that a Lotus. lol

The McLaren F1 still the fastest normally aspirated car. I'm still waiting for the Super Veyron and the 4 passenger coupe.

Are you interested in a Kellison Stallion that has been idle and unfinished for over 25 years? lol

NewYorkGuy 06-12-2014 03:38 PM

this forum is indeed the world's largest _____(u fill in the blank)

I think the biggest tragedy about these Cobra cars is the creator, Carroll Shelby died and there is no bloodline to carry on the Cobra legacy. SAI needs a real Shelby figurehead (son or daughter), not more licensed dealers. Spending big $$$ on a hobby demands more than good faith and reputation(when the reputation is suspect).

maybe I should listen to wifey, "Just buy a damn corvette and be done with this madness," as she looks at HD Buttercup and calls Ikea furniture "fakes."

itstock 06-12-2014 03:42 PM

You were all wrong in the previous thread. I am now convinced that "Onyxrider" and "NewYorkGuy" are actually the same person.

Ikea furniture is crap though.

Jamo - my brother has a FIAT Dino coupe, yes...coupe :JEKYLHYDE, with the 206 motor. I told him to pull that engine, dump the FIAT and put it in a Stratos fakeydo. Much funner ride. And will be worth more...hehe.

OR - I know a guy with a GTR. Fast, I guess. I couldn't tell. Sterile is as sterile does. Boring.

NYG - Corvettes are great, and wifey will be much happier in it.

Jamo - maybe CC could have a direct line to Corvette dealers. When people realize that a Cobra isn't for them, they go down a chute like in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.
