Patrick,
Yes, you were correct. A small puddle of antifreeze on the floor this morning after a brief ride. :)

Now, had you posted that as a new thread, say, last week, writing that you had a puddle of coolant on the floor coming from your overflow tube, there would have been at least two or three well-intentioned replies telling you that your head gasket was shot and that you now need to pull the heads....

I have also decided that flat white painted side pipes are a pain. Pipes get hot, pain bubbles and turns color. I will try a 7 day cure and see if that is any better. But back on topic. Is it better to run in the 180 degree range or 200 degree range? I know the stat is 180. I also warm it up to 140 or so before pulling out of the driveway. Then I drive gently until I reach the 170-180 range.

Either one is just fine. The engine will outlive you running at either one of those temps.:3DSMILE:

You're overworrying this Phil. !80 Stat is fine. You could see running temps up to about 235 (I did) with the extended boil point that an 18 pound cap and AF mix allow-without boil over. Only worry if prolonged is that the brass tank splits its seams or a worn hose lets go. You are checking your hoses aren't you???.
The only concerns are that oil temps mimic that (they should) and keep it moving. If you must idle (lights etc), raise the RPM to 1800 or so to move the water pump faster.
Drive more / worry less.
-and stop listening to the Orifice-errr-Oracle of Overflow. He likes to fabricate tall tales to impress newer guys that he knows what he's talking about. - NOBODY would tell you your head gaskets are gone with a puddle at the overflow tube....

Uhhh, should I tell him about his air bleeds now, or save that for later?:p

i think solely for entertainment purposes, this would be a perfect time to post pics of the dual roll bar install. Chas really enjoys it.

Or, I could just bet him on what comes up the most in the myriads of car and engine forums if he just Googles "what causes coolant coming out the overflow tube?"

So that must be an empirical fact because of its frequency on the internet.
Propagated by geniuses like you. :JEKYLHYDE
You find blown gaskets by leak-downs, the exhaust and the dipstick.
Stick to your air bleeds.

Oh yeah, make sure you check the little hidden set screw on the clutch linkage. It can back out and then your clutch linkage falls apart when you're driving. (Chas. can't remember my thread on that one).
