The one issue no one has addressed in the cost of Superformance (or BDR or any car imported) is the loss in value of the American dollar. The price reflects how the world values our currency. I saw this trend around 2006-7 in European
race cars sold in this country. The value of the product has not gone up, it just takes more of our dollars to purchase them. Just another opinion!

Valid point. But what is also never mentioned is that if you are driving a CSX, Kirkham, ERA, SPF, or even a BDR you are most likely completely out of touch with the real economic reality in America, much less the rest of the world.

Huh? Because I own a Cobra replica, I'm completely out of touch with the real economic reality in America? Really? Or is that just some typical Patrick Hot Air?

You really believe that? Someone's ability to afford the nicer things in life because they worked their AZZ OFF to get there makes them naive? Really?!? Should they just sell their car and hand over the Benjies to the guy holding a tin cup? Wow, Socialism and is alive and well on CC.

The point is, as I assume patrickt was referring to, a Cobra is a "car" without a radio/stereo, air conditioning, side windows, top, gets terrible gas mileage, gives off more emissions at start up than 100000 Pruises combined, etc., etc., .... its very one dimensional. We don't drive it in the rain, when its too hot, too cold, and its $xpensive to maintain and own. You gotta be stupid to want to own such a vehicle and oblivious to the plight of 90% of the world's population who are starving, dont have enough water, and the unstable world economic/political conditions. It makes no economic or rational sense to own such a vehicle. I love my Cobra.

I'm not buying what you're selling.
First, it assumes all Cobra owners are "oblivious to the plight of 90% of the world's population." It doesn't take much effort to see people are dying in Eastern Ukraine, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, crime in America, including school shootings, and I can go on and on. We're oblivious, because we haven't been shot, caught a deadly virus, can buy food and provide for our families or weren't shot down in plane while going on vacation? Really, you believe that tripe?
As for rationality, is it rational to make oneself happy? Happiness changes your perspective on life, for the better, no? That's rational? Some folks use their Cobra daily or almost daily. Bernie in Austrailia comes to mind. That seems rational.
And for economics, Evan (Real 1) has doubled, even tripled his investment in his CSX, to cite just one example. I'm speculating, but 10 years ago (or whenever), I bet he paid much less than $100,000. Now, well he thinks it's value is $240,000. That makes economic sense to me. Cobras are bought and sold everyday for a profit or a loss. That is economics. Economics 101.

Errr. Nope. I didn't hear him say that.
But you missed one simple element in the conclusions you've drawn.
"OPPORTUNITY".
Living where you and I do we have an abundance of opportunity.
You're kidding yourself if you think you and I are working our "AZZs OFF" more so than a poor 12 yr old slaving away in an Indian sweat shop.
Just saying...

Ahhh, Dimis... once again you have shown that not only are you intelligent but perceptive and well-spoken to boot. ACademic should take a lesson from you.

Fortunately, there are many Indian emigres to America, who now slave away in Silicon Valley (as well as NYC, Austin, etc.) "sweat shops" for millions and billions of dollars.
