Can't wait to see.. Did you have the motor built & webers jetted? Or do it yourself?

eriktreves 08-04-2014 08:15 AM

It is a 347 crate motor and I added a Stage 2 Inglese cam (Weber specific)... I am off to the dyno in the next couple weeks to get it properly jetted... I synch'd the carbs (rough in)...I am sure they could be made a bit closer, but I will let the expert make it perfect....timing is also set to 14* to get started and I am sure that will all need to be changed as well...final advance hasn't been set.... just enough done to get me to smile! I am about 5 weeks into the build so things are progressing nicely.... Looks like I may need to reseal the oil pan as I have a drip to the ground sfter the car sits over night...I hope it isn't the rear main seal....we'll see...

1985 CCX 08-04-2014 08:18 AM

Not sure you can really gets carbs in until you have them under power ?

eriktreves 08-04-2014 08:30 AM

you're right...you can't!!!

Dyno tuning is the way to go, if they are set up for it! I've set mine by a lot of trial & error. It helped me understand how they work. It is a process, though. Being able to hook up a sniffer to each exhaust pipe , at the head, would make jetting a breeze.

eriktreves 08-04-2014 12:11 PM

I have full access to a dyno with wide band for each bank...no issues...this is the only way to tune in my opinion...if you want best performance and fuel economy, and still remain within the "law"...dyno tune with a load sensing/ vehicle simulation dyno... we typically spent about 1 hour on the dyno for fuel injection...2 hours or so with carbs since you have to actually breal out the wrenches for carburation...lol...

Sounds like fun!
