can someone help me with the optimum oil temperature for my 351 bored and stroked to 407. the car has an oil cooler and its running at 50 degrees centigrade thanks

Should be at least 180* or so. You're about 122* (50*C). If oil doesn't warm up enough, it doesn't work properly.

Unless you're road racing, there's really no need for an oil cooler - and this is why.

If you don't have one ( sounds like you don't) install a thermostat. They usually open at 160° but allow some oil to pass before that. Also, lighter weight oils can be difficult to get up to temp on the street with a cooler.
