Some advice on creating more room please
Hello all. I'm new here and just realized my dream yesterday of owning a cobra. I sat in a few previously and didn't come close to fitting in them. I'm 6' 4 about 300 lbs. I saw one last week locally and went and looked and lo and behold I actually kind of fit in it and was able to drive it. Being an automatic helped. My question is can anyone suggest seats that are thinner and lower than what's currently in there, which are the wrong seats, high backed, thickly padded and unacceptable for the car. Can anyone post a link with this and other mods to create more room. I was able to lower the seat a few inches now my head is even with the windshield frame as opposed to 4 inches over it and I can't see to well. Thanks in advance.

Is this a car you bought or one you are thinking about buying? Knowing the manufacturer might help. Removing seat tracks and bolting them to the floor all the way back usually gains significant room. raking the seat back hldps too. Some models have some adjustment of the pedal position also.

Did the same thing to ours, seat on the floor all the way back fits me like a glove. Good Luck your car still has to be a lot longer than ours if your 6'4" and fit.

You might try contacting Bill Emerson of Emerson Motorsports. I know that he has built some Cobras for guys as large as you and a little taller and they have no problem getting in and out of them. I am not sure of just what all he did but the seats were one of the changes along with some others. I am pretty sure he has a link on here in the builders list. Thanks ron. I have the car going into the shop today to see what they can do. The current seats need to be changed. They are high back and not really rounded to fit into the seat wells far enough. Until I buy seats and a few other things I just want it more drivable till then. They'll remove the seat bracket and try bolting it right to the floor. I'm driving it anyway and its amazing. Yesterday someone knocked on my door to ask questions about the car. That was strange.

You will have a lot of people coming up to ask questions about the car. When I have my garage door open, I go and close the driveway gate as I got tired of strangers just walking up and into the garage to look at the cars. I hope they can come up with some seats and a mounting that will do the job for you. And you are going to have a lot of great times with the car. Ron :) |

I concur with the posters above - the Kirkey are the way to go to gain room. Me, 6'1 inseam 33 in.

I am 6.4 and used R-model seats with no runners. For your 300lb frame you may have to get a wider version. The R-Model seat is essentially a go-cart seat.

I looked at the kirkey seats and the sides are too high and the seats too narrow. The vintage roadster seats have the look I want but seem too padded. I know the bottom padding can be removed and replaced with memory foam. Whatever it takes I need to get under the windshield. Thanks everyone for the input. Going for a cruise now.

That's definetly an MG center section, w/s, door panels, dash, seats,etc. made by C-F enterprises of L.B. Ca. Basically used MGB platform with their front and rear body panels.
