How do you pick a winner?

Riverside racer 02-02-2015 02:43 AM

Subtle location chosen for your pics Kurt!
The stripe and roundels have done the trick.
Great job.

It is CSX 2541. I got to drive it after taking the photos. The owner asked me if I wanted to, and I first said "no, thanks". I had never driven a Cobra before, and only been in 1 other one at the time. I came to my senses about 10 seconds later and said, "yes!" I knew I would have kicked myself for not taking that opportunity, and I'm glad I did. I got snake bit on that day. It was amazing. Here are some more photos processed from that shot for a book I made.

Here's a couple of gents with one of our Superformance 289 FIAs. I understand they may actually know what it is!

LightNFast 02-02-2015 07:13 PM

Also, thanks guys for the kind words and "Likes" on my Superformance 289 FIA... it's very much appreciated!

I love this tach! Apologies for my ignorance, but can you still buy these? Were they fitted to any Cobras originally?

Yes to both questions. Several of the comp cars used this tach.

You can still by a very similar "Retro" Sun Tachometer new, or find the real deal restored.

I'm uncertain but doubt they were originally fitted. Most likely just one of many modifications made by some of the teams. I've seen it used in both USRRC and FIA configurations.
