Those tachs are fairly common on eBay. May need a sender, though I'm unsure about that.

I had never driven a Cobra before, and only been in 1 other one at the time. I came to my senses about 10 seconds later and said, "yes!" I knew I would have kicked myself for not taking that opportunity, and I'm glad I did. I got snake bit on that day. It was amazing. Here are some more photos processed from that shot for a book I made.

CSX 2541 belonged to my good friend Mark Winkelman in north Texas, and it is the first real, original cobra I ever got to touch close up and actually sit in. He would drive it out to our monthly club meetings. I just loved the white and red interior. Eventually he sold it, along with his '68 GT500KR convertible and aquirred original 427 street cobra (I dont have the CSX3### handy). That 427 street version was the first (and only) original cobra I actually have had a ride in! What a thrill, thanks for the memories!

The original Sun did use a sender, and they used a mercury battery. If memory serves me right they were 2.3 volts. I found an NOS tach at an antique mall, and bought a sender off of eBay. For grins I tried a normal AA battery, which is 2.5 volts? I dont remember the Co's name off the top of my head but they can covert them over to solid state.

The "SUN" tach is currently being reproduced, without the need of a sender. Sun also made another tach with the same appearance that did not require a separate sending unit or batteries....

The passenger is Ross Henry, the force behind the Hi-Tech Automotive built Superformance (and Shelby) 289s. He has invested years of research and thousands of hours in prototypes and samples to get these to this stage.

Allen ... Your car is amazing, very thoughtful series of enhancements you have done.

Pete ... Great idea for a thread, really like the 289s and especially the FIA and your scratch build is awesome.

Lots of cool Cobras here … I like 'em all ... :)
