any one interested in the first contemporary 289fia ?
i'm thinking about selling my 289 fia contemporary cobra. It's the first one made and was assembled by peter bayer and canaska motorsports. It has a 351 windsor , 5 speed richmond, 13" rotar 6 piston wilwood brakes, full jaguar suspension (irs), penske remote shocks with eibach springs, handles like on rails as any one that's seen it on track can attest to.

Missed this one when you bought it
Missed JM's when he sold it.
I get to be the bridesmaid again I guess.
Well, you have my number

I tried, but unless he likes Atocha treasure , I'm most likely not in the running. Just like the last few times, timing is not on my side.

Nope, as most barn finds I've bought in the past have been in the 15-25K range.
With 100% honesty and full disclosure, his beautiful car is far from a barn find and frankly should have sold last night for full asking price. If not, I'd be really surprised. My cash offer was a little less (ok, who did not make an offer last night ), 6-8 weeks from now I would have just said "I'll take it", of course I have some documented Atocha coinage I could throw in to make the deal better, but that would rely on the seller wanting documented Atocha coinage along with my cash offer .
Did you offer to buy it for full price last night, if not, you should have.

You're a good sport Bill. I was having a gentle "put up or shut up" dig.
You "put up", but just not enough! I hope you are able to offload the coins quickly, because I can really see you in this car.
From my perspective - while Scott's car is a well known and proven performer - it doesn't have the documentation required to get import approval to Australia, so no I didn't make an offer of any kind.

I've always put my money were my mouth is, that is why I get to continue calling it like I see it without being blinded by anything.
Largest coin show coming up in October (thought it was in mid January)
Shame you could not get the paperwork together for this car, I remember it and the two other built by Canaska and lusting after them ever since. Oh well, fate deals me another card off the top of the deck which turns out to not be the right one at this time. There will be other opportunities this year I'm sure.

Good to see a couple of FIA CCX cars surfacing even though Scott has had his fun with it and is looking to find it a new home. Some good info and pictures of it here 289 Shelby Cobra Replica - Featured Vehicles - Kit Car Magazine
I hope it finds an appreciative home, it's a rather special little car with great history.

Hello JM,
The picture by your avatar of that 289 FIA looks very familiar! It now has 3,300 miles on it and just maybe will get fired up tomorrow. No track pipes though because I am sure you heard me on the East Coast last July when I installed them! They are quite literally about 70% louder than the standard pipes.
Happy New Year.

yes...they almost look like the same car, Roy!
Glad you're enjoying it and I wish I never sold it...it looks great! And the video you sent me of the open pipes run was priceless!!!!!
All the Best!
JM
