I think this goes back to the 1960s or 1970s Dodge Ramchargers drag cars.

Google "Bill Shope 3 link". Bill had a site where he explained all the calculations behind the 3 link geometry. Unfortunately this site is not online anymore, but you might find some forum posts from Bill on corner-carvers.com
