Default Classic American Muscle

SCCA has created several new autox classes for vintage cars called Classic American Muscle. They have a class that Cobras are eligible for with very minimal rules that many of the Cobras on CC could run called CAM-S. The cars must be street legal, licensed and insured, weigh no less than 2350 lbs and have minimum 200TW tires, engines, suspension, brakes, wheel size are all unregulated so it should be a great place to run our cars. The first event in 2015 is at the former military air base at Crows landing California on March 6-8, 2015. The course will be fast, open and safe. They will also have instructors for those new to the sport to help during practice.
This is a great way to get to know your cars in a safe environment and see how they handle. There are several evening parties planned in addition to the racing
so should be a fun event to attend see link below.

That's good to hear. I planned on doing some solo II-autocross this summer. Used to run a 71 Boss 351 in FSP years ago. It was hard to compete against the small mustangs on the small tight courses. Seems I heard the cobras and replicas were always in XP but not sure. Always enjoy watching your vids.

I just heard that there will be a party Friday night at Maier racing for the competitors.
Some of you may know that Maier is a long time Ford performance shop. There will also be a free dinner Saturday night in Patterson courtesy of the event sponsor Speedway Motors.
Last but not least one of the driving instructors will be Robby Unser who knows a thing or two about getting a car around a track. I hope some of you California Cobra owners will take advantage of this opportunity to have a fun time with your cars. I am currently installing the stock windshield and wiper system on my Cobra and plan on running the event.

Still no other Cobra entries. They have opened up the CAM-S class to allow all Corvettes and now it has become an all Corvette group other than Bruce and I driving the lone Cobra. Come on out and run!

This event this not your normal autocross. Raleigh and Velma have been making this CAM class different than all other SCCA events. They have been traveling and talking to participants from Good Guys events to other autoxes.

They have the practice event Friday with instructors available if you would like them. Saturday since you are running the CAM class you do not have to work course, other people work for the CAM participants. Speedway motors and from what I have heard a few other companies will be represented. This is the only event like this in the West Coast this year, you don't want to miss it.

See you there,
Scott Fraser
