Painted Kirkham
Well, I sold some stuff from the garage and made better use of my assets.
Me and Luis (painter at McCluskey's) became friends after our wives made the 'Cobra connection'. Luis, a painter, meets me, with an unpainted Kirkham. Hmmm. Every time he saw my car it was like an artist looking at a blank canvas . Long story short, I had the Twin Paxton beast painted black. El Diablo Negro, as RedBarchetta named her. Just picked her up after the Shelby show in Gardena. I've seen what Luis has done in the past, (CSX2001, Essex Wire, etc) and this work exceeded my expectations. As he said, "I'm gonna have to see this thing all the time, so I better do it right". I'm extremely happy, until it comes time to detail. Hope you guys enjoy and not give me too much of a hard time about going to the dark side. Spectacular!!!
Please note: Black cars are not a hobby, they are a career. |
Sweet! Reminds me of CSX3010.
|
Beautiful, but I'm biased.
|
Simple and beautiful! Congrats Rodney!:):):)
|
Beautiful. I much prefer paint over bare aluminum.
|
Rodney,
That thing looks horrible ! You should just ship it up to me and I'll dispose of it for you. Ted |
Looks like plastic one now... A good sweet looking plastic one, but a plastic one!%/
So I recommend putting a dint in it.:LOL::p |

Nicely done.
The black body and gold wheels are a great contrast. Maurice |

BTW, I love that '94 Speedster in the background too. |
That looks great Rodney. I'm curious though.... If I really look at my bare KMP with a critical eye, the imperfections are obvious. (Makes it look "real-er") So, how much filling, blocking and sanding did your car need prior to even being shot with primer?
|
Very, very nice Rodney. Great choices all around.
"El Diablo Negro" ... perfect name Steve. LOL Bob |
philminotti,
I remember when I had my Autokraft and it sat next to the KMP in my garage. I could look at every detail side by side and even though the bodies were far from identical, one could definitely see what it took to make the Autokraft look like a modern stamped steel car. So, yes, dings, body 'corrections' (cowl, front opening edge, door jambs) etc, take quite a bit of work to make it look like a 'perfect' job, much higher quality than original. If I had an original and painted it, I would have done it with less attention on the imperfections. We've all seen original restorations where they appear too perfect, but ours are replicas..;) |
Rodney: What the hell are you doing with my car?!!! How the hell did it get out there. I send it to HRE for the spa treatment and it ends in on the left coast!!!!!
Gorgeous Rodney. We are twins save for the Paxtons. I was thinking of having my centers painted gold. Now I can see what my car would like. Outstanding!!! |
