Question Outrageous ad statements

When you read statements like this, what do you think?

"I ONLY WANT INTERESTED PARTIES TO BID ON THIS CAR THAT APPRECIATE THE TRUE DESIRE TO OWN A PIECE OF AMERICAN CAR HISTORY. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH ON THE (
manufacturer name removed)MARK III AC COBRA CARS AND HOW MUCH QUALITY CRAFTMANSHIP INTO BUILDING THESE CARS. THIS IS NOT A "KIT" CAR....THIS IS A TRUE CONTINUATION CAR SIGNED BY CARROLL SHELBY. I HAVE A FRAMED CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY WITH POCKET CARD THAT COMES WITH THE VEHICLE."

Do you believe that the owner has truly fallen for the hype of a manufacturer, or do you think he drank too much of the manufacturers Kool Aid

Sure Bill,

most in that ebay ad was taken from the manufacture website and magazine statements.

Let's be honest - Shelby redesigned the Cobra, and assembled the car here in the states.
Today you would name it a components car.

Nerveless he created an Icon - no doubt about it. But when Superformance
brags about build under license - let them have it.

Everyone who made with Carroll deals - got under or a thicker skin, that is fact.

....and actually, it is pretty fair from the seller to encourage a research on that particular car and read whatever you can about before you do a bid.

The real question is (at least for me) "If my daughter want that car, would I keep her from buying that car"?

No.

Many, many other Cobras- yes!

Caveat emptor. On the plus side he does advise the potential buyer to "do your own research". A recommendation that will be ignored by a good portion of the potential buyers.
I do get the impression he's borrowing superlatives from the manufacturer's advertising. But if it's signed by Carroll it's got to be O.K. Add in the COA and you've got a real deal going );-)

Is there a way to just buy the Pocket Card? And once you do, can you get free gas or airline tickets?

I think does anyone really give a rat's ass? Are you posting this nonsense because you are bored?

Well, thank you for your opinion, way off mind you at your guess, but it's your opinion, so you are freely allowed to post it here.

Bill S.

PS: Is the ad I quoted, "your car" , or did you just want to come in and attempt to pick a fight this morning because you were the one who was bored?

I'll expand,

Outrageous comments such as the seller makes (his car produced long before the license agreement between SPF/Shelby in this case) require some type of response, as such, I made this post. Kind of like those who have a donor Mustang motor in their cars, add an intake, and larger throttle body and make claims of "estimated 500hp and the rear wheels" as if it adds credability to the car in search of a sucker to bite on the worm he dangled in front of them.

As for a rats ass, let me be the first to say, you'll never have to worry about ever being accused of having one , or being one . Yes, really

This ad seems less outrageous to me than a lot I have seen, and a lot that have been discussed here on the site. I guess the snake oil goes with the cars. Lets call it a homage (continuation?!?) to the original slippery snake salesman--and his potent snake oil sales abilities--that helped so much is getting the cars into (and thru) production in the first place!

People make outrageous and incorrect statements all the time in ads. Its incumbent upon you to do the research. If You do the research as the advertiser has invited you do you will quickly learn the car for sale is not a "continuation" but merely a super formance built under license by Shelby American in that much of the ad is a bunch of hyperbole

Well,it is well within the limits of " internet embellishment" no question. Lets remember, there are kits and components out there that arguably , also, push the limit of what might arguably be considered a " cobra" . That said, is there some new internet sales description police entity recently that's come to power I should be made aware of?

That kind of wording makes me immediately suspicious so, in my opinion, he's not doing himself any favors.

Sorry about that.
I took some text from your post, Googled it and it went to an ad but said text wasn't there, so I figured they changed it.

Found it at the bottom. Duh.
Who reads everything, anyway?

Incomplete info. Without a manufacturer's name and/or link to ad, I'll reserve judgement.

If I had a dollar for every sketchy nuance I've ever read in any for sale ad, I'd be able to afford a real one. Numb to it all.
