Took the Cobra to a little local event to test my magic idler pulley and brake mods to see how they worked. The idler pulley kept the belt from rolling over
but after touching the rev limiter at the finish in the attached video the belt just broke in half probably from the stress of being bent backwards by the idler.
The 10 psi check valve helped the brakes but did not fix the problem. Seems that the Baer calipers have a double seal that has very high piston friction and 10 psi cannot overcome that friction. My new plan: I will try to put either a cog belt on the crank ,alternator and water pump or possibly a serpentine belt. There is room to package it if I can get the crank pulley off and redesign it.
I plan on buying some Stoptech Aero rotors for the front brakes along with their hardware and design new hats that can accommodate full floating race type rotors.
I also plan on removing the dust seals from the calipers to reduce piston friction and machine the pistons down so they are a little further out in their bores.
I will post here after all that is done and let you know if it worked.
This is a short youtube video I touched the limiter at the finish and the belt went away. We don't have the sensor data properly synced to the video but
you can see what is going on with engine revs and braking.
