Take a good look at the pic with the fuel pump (get rid of the wire nuts!) Looks like a curved chassis section (rear axle kick-up?) Never seen that on a sq tube kit chassis!

Haha yeah I saw that too. There's a few little odds and ends like that I need to fix. Also have the front number pieces I still need to bolt on. Thanks for the pointer.

Elegant Motors made C3 and C4 Corvette chassis into Cobras but this does not look like an Elegant Motors. C3 wheelbase was 98 inch.

Cobra Kits

Above is a list of Cobra manufacturers and you will see a lot used Corvette suspensions to make cobra replicas.

Looking at the last picture in your second post, I would be a little concerned about the data plate being from a '66 Ford Fairlane convertible. I hope they didn't take the VIN off a junked car and put in on the car to get it registered.

Definately a C2/C3 Corvette rear suspension. Looks to be on a sectioned frame. Stock C2/C3 wheelbase is 98 inches. Nice looking car.

Edit - I didn't spot the transmission cross member in the one picture originally. Must be a fairly stock C2/C3 frame, although it could still be sectioned in the main frame rails to shorten it a little.

How is that identifiable? I don't see any verbiage anywhere that says Fairlane?

The VIN (6S08RS0901382) appears to be a reproduction or fake, er, replica (maybe it's a continuation...):
6 = 1966
S = Pilot Plant
08 = 2 dr. Convertible Std. bucket seats
R = 8-427 2-4 bar. carb., Hi. perf.
Last Six Digits are supposed to be Production Numbers, but this VIN has 8 digits (S0901382)

1966 Ford Vehicle Identification Numbers (vin)

Recommend you correct the wire connections on your Holley fuel pump. Use automotive connections ..replace the screw on house electrical connections.

If I may:

Get rid of the wire nuts and put in something that will not fall off.

Looks like a Holley red - these pumps work fine as long as the inlet is at the same level as the fuel tank outlet - consider lowering it to that level. The 'loop' up may give you challenges.

For the price - I think you did fine.

Just my $.02 worth.

Could be Everett-Morrison. They used Corvette suspension parts. I would get rid of that air cleaner. Worst one you can have. Gasoline will spit up and deteriorate the foam and the foam will fall into carb. Peace

It always looks strange to me to see an automatic shift lever in a Cobra...

I'd say it's a 70's C3 Corvette suspension (96" w/b) front and rear and most likely everything else underneath is. For under 20K, it looks okay, and if it runs okay then you did okay. Far from a top shelf car, but you didn't pay for a top shelf car. Enjoy.

Thumbs down

That's great to hear, yeah man I'll fix the fuel pump wiring this wknd! The EM kit looks similar but ther website says they have a 4" tube chassis, and this car had a square pipe frame. The plot thickens. I've been reading about these diff makers for days. One always looks just like it until I'll find a characteristic or two which rules it out, and that avenue ends

There's always the possibility that it was scratch built or at least partly so with parts sourced from various manufacturers. That might explain all the dead ends. In the past on this forum, someone would be able to identify a manufacturer's car in a relatively short timeframe.

Anyway, drive and enjoy.

The kit maker is Frankencobra, it is from Switzerland, made in a basement by some car scientist, he added a bunch of parts to make this monster of a car, it might not look all correct but it is a marvel in the science community...

Easiest way may be to track down the first owner.

Not an EM. Some EM models used Corvette suspensions but not their frames.

There is a Texas Title for this vehicle and the last owner is L. F. of Temple TX.
Texas Title date was December 30. 2014. Vehicle is listed as replica. Registration expires 03/2018

The plate on the vehicle does not match the title, it is listed as former license plate.
Mr. L. F. payed for that vehicle $9500. Former owner is L. A. of Austin.

You need to get the title. If you don't have a title you need to get a bonded title...

TXDOT does not accept standalone affidavits anymore, vehicles with lost titles need to be bonded (unless the original owner applies for a new title).

The only good thing is, the vehicle is not reported stolen.
