Well, Ford did offer a 1972 Mustang 351 Cobra Jet, didn't they? I could see some confusion going on there.

Good perspective on how the focus over time has changed from "How fast does it go?" to "How much is it worth?" Buying a Cobra in the early '70s as Ned did was a bit of a risk. $10k was still a lot of money when you could buy a house for $50k And leaded gas with high octane had so disappeared to make us wonder if you would even be able to drive a car like a Cobra ever again. Great story about Ned's dedication to the marque.

Great article.
I contacted Ned years ago about a COX Cobra I was interested in and had questions about its value. He gave me the straight poop. To this day I don't regret passing on it. It was a very nice Cobra but his honesty and knowledge helped me make the right decision.
Thanks, Ned.

Thanks for the nice comments. All along it seemed to me the article was simply intended to fill out the page count for the magazine. And I still think so.

A very nice article and well-deserved for roughly 40 years of work. Thank you to both Ned and Rick. And thank you to A-Snake for posting it here for everyone to read.
And a very nice compliment to Kirkham Motorsport too. Cool.

A well deserved testimonial to one of the original Cobra stalwarts. Having known Ned in his (relative) youth, I can a assure you all that he was even handsomer in the 1970s. BTW, thank you for mentioning my name in your write up, even if you spelled it wrong.

Ned,
That is a very nice article and you really deserve the credit for what you have did and are doing. I have bought the last two registries and I refer to them as the final authority on Cobras. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication that makes it much easier for us to sort fact from fiction.

That question is still being discussed. Next registry may well be digital only - details yet uncertain.

Timing was perfect on article. After 50 or so pages and some not to flattering on recent thread, which I was glad to see closed, a thank you to Ned was in order. Lots of hard work and is enjoyed by all. Thanks to all the registers for their hard work I just renewed to SAAC for two more years. I enjoy all that they have to offer. IMO I don't see them excluding the current cobras, that would be like Shelby suing SAAC, which was like kicking your most devoted followers. You have to admit the owners of current cars have a lot of passion, which is in its self is not a bad thing.

Congratulations Ned on a fantastic article! And adding to what rodneym mentioned earlier, Ned was also instrumental in advising me on the purchase of a couple 3000 series cars a few years ago. I can say firsthand that the availability of the Cobra Registry combined with the tenacity, approachability, and honesty of Mr. Ned Scudder allows for freshmen Cobra collectors like myself to enter the fray with a much greater level of confidence. This has and will no doubt continue to benefit the collectability of Cobras. Because my tastes span across a few different collector car markets I can also say firsthand what a unique and valuable resource he really is. Kudos Ned!
