A beautiful car and great story!

Glad to see 2306 properly painted. Wonder if the rear deck emblem is still off center!?

Nedsel 11-10-2015 10:07 PM

I'd like to think it is ... just like us.

Rear deck lid emblem on CSX2306

CSX2306 is up for sale (may have been sold by now) and superb promo
photos of the meticulously restored car reveal that the rear deck lid emblem is indeed still mounted off center! Love it! DRED

It sure looks off center to me: CSX-2306 Cobra

CSX2306 has undergone further restoration. No longer is it black, but it is now a version of it's original princess blue. It also has dual fours that were not original to the car, but it's "birth" 289 is in a rotting Jeep carcass somewhere in a Mississippi scrapyard, so the setup was a nice option available on the leaf spring cars back in the day. The rear deck emblem is still off center as it was during my custodianship and during the many (interrupted) years that Ned owned it. Shows you that the guys who put those cars together were ordinary folks who did not have computerized machinery to evaluate their every action. Ned says he and I are "off center" just like the emblem. True, but the love of these old cars and the thousands of continuations/replicas/facsimiles makes a lot of hopeless car nuts off center too!

CSX 2306 is available through Grand Prix Classics in La Jolla, CA, in case anyone here is looking for a very nice example. Dred and I can confirm the quality of the car!

Ned, please tell me that’s not an Ace Bandage wrapped around the front spring!!
It doesn’t look like Denso!

Big Thanks

I had the opportunity to meet Ned at our second New Jersey Cobra Club meeting in the Summer of 1973, and we've been in and out of contact since. I've been away from Cobras for decades, but remain in the loop through my friendship with Geoff Howard. In the Fall of 1975, I managed to do two stupid things back to back: I sold CSX 3121, and turned down Ned's offer to sell his silver 289 to me for $9k.
