Well, there's a catch if you read the actual bill. You cannot be the importer and the distributor of turn key cars. This does not impact a company building cars completely in USA.
Also to qualify the vehicle must be a licensed product. We will have to see who the "Cobra" must be licensed from before making any decisions there.

I lived in CA 13 years. Try building a classic car with a crate motor there & you'll warm to our skepticism. It's coming. The question is, how many years/decades & how does it happen.

Yeah, you guys in CA ought to have a revolutionary war.
Of course, you might fix your problems in the next election cycle by NOT voting for any lawyers or for people who are up for reelection.
Didn't Jegs stop shipping crate engines to CA a few years ago?

I live in the SF Bay Area and I'm very happy with CA. Thank you very much.
No revolution needed in my neighborhood. We have the undefeated and defending champion Golden State Warriors, the 3-time World Series Champion SF Giants, uh, er, and some friggin' team that calls themselves the San Francisco 49ers, but they're definitely imposters.
That's the revolution we need. Get rid of the Yorks as owners of the 49ers.
But I digress. No one is coming for your Cobra, Bernica. Down boy.

I kinda wonder if Cobra replicas with FE's and other polluting engines will become extinct now. CA could/will update their SB100/SPCNS program to follow the Federal law and go one step further and outlaw polluting engines in our Cobra replicas. But if they're green engines, CA may lift the 500 exemption limit each year.
I'm not sure what the new law means for enthusiasts building more-accurate replicas. Maybe CA will continue the SB100/SPCNS program for exhaust-belching engines.

Which then bears the question if those of us in CA with SB100's are able to live in perpetuality? Or do the Smog Nazis take them away from us?
To me, belching a little Sunoco or VP fuel on a Saturday or Sunday is so minuscule compared to the bigger picture.
Leave me alone, and get off my lawn!

Buzz,
I normally don't jump to the conspiracy side of things, but California is filled to the brim with overzealous environmentalists. There are groups of environmentalists that work full-time to sue city, county, and the state on every possible action. The result is that rather than go to court, the agency submits to a cash settlement. The environmentalists take that cash to continue to fill their coffers and sue again and again and continue to get awarded settlements.
Example - our town approved a shopping center on property that was formerly a high school. Environmentalists sued on some basis (I've forgotten the reason). The town caved and gave them $100,000. It got built, but it was delayed for a long time.
Example - the state highway in town was being widened and additional lanes were added to a bridge. The state put up netting on the underside of the bridge to prevent birds from nesting so they would not get hurt during construction per previous agreements with the environmentalists from previous bridge building. The environmentalists sued them for putting up the netting.
On and on it goes to a level of insanity. Just the fact that the legislation is coming up will get the attention of some environmentalist and who knows what will happen.

And somehow they will figure out how our cars are impacting the California Smelt or some "rare" snail somewhere.

I remember the Kangaroo Rat and Kit Fox (or whatever it/they were) being endangered species way back in the old days. All you had to do is buy some vacant land nearby and ship them all over there.

While us Californian's wouldn't think of moving because the pluses far out weigh the minuses, here is a follow up to my post. The local paper wrote an article this week that mentioned that the environmentalists were hoping that the birds will return to nesting under the bridge now that it is finished.... and oh by the way, the cost of the netting and re-netting? $5 million. Yep, $5 mill to keep birds temporarily off the underside of a bridge. To top it all off, neither netting worked so the environmentalists insisted that the state have people monitor the underside of the bridge and scrape off any nests that were started by the birds.
There's no doubt it is much cheaper to live elsewhere and the above is a prime example of why.

Personally, I really like clean air and our CA air is cleaner. Where's that "kiss my bare butt" emoji when you need it.

The videos from China were pretty scary. Both Phoenix and Denver have their temperature inversion days. Vegas being in a similar bowl does get some haze but nowhere near the "brown cloud" from D & P. Dust is the major contributor though.

Well, your not looking close enough then.
A recent 20-year USC study states less smog in LA. Air quality has improved.
