Moss has the glove box lock. I think it requires a little fitting though.
MossMotors.com - Restoration Parts And Accessories For British Cars

I think all this goes back to cost. The wiring harness and components are nothing like the original but the cost would go way up to make it accurate. Wipers park on the wrong side, wiper motor not correct, gas cap not accurate, switches not correct, glove box door shape, shape of the dash, leather on the dash not shinny enough, gauges not correct, seat sliders wrong style, shifter too tall, turn signals wrong color, ... you could go on and on but it IS a production car and not a home built. To produce a car now, accurate to an original would add tens of thousands per car, if not more. Plus the parts are just not out there in many cases. Not anymore anyway.

The Moss unit has a short tongue.
That is the fitment issue.
Was thinking of reproducing the right one. May have no pay back.

You are right on that! The market for "dead nuts on is small so don't plan on getting your investment back in any reasonable time period!

Ask me how I know..............

The Moss Motors glovebox knob/lock is an exact copy of the 289 Cobra item.
It was also used on the Austin Healy 3000 and the Nash Metropolitan as well as,
I believe, the Jensen Healy and the Aston Martin. It was not a very well made
item due to pot metal internals. The Moss piece doesn't fit on most replicas as
the glovebox doors are too thick. They are fairly expensive but if you don't
mind spending $160+ you can cut one apart and drill and tap the knob from
the back so you can mount it just like the kitchen knob you have now. I
bought one of the replica knobs from Cobra Restorers for $100 hoping it was
a nine chromed brass casting but it was just an aluminum turning so I sent it
back. I was lucky to find an original, but broken knob/lock and I cut it up to
make a "knob" that looks perfect. I don't care that it won't lock...I just use the
trunk!

Excellent yes Exact except for tongue length.
I have original and moss unit. Clear when you look them over side by side.

Larry. Will size up that eBay part thanks. Might just buy one and try.
