I'm guessing the seller did that kind of math and then factored in the ability to drive his car on the street as opposed to the "competition series continuations" that you mention. Like "hey, buy one of those and put it in a collection or buy mine and actually drive it!"

Unless I missed something and the seller's car is not street legal either...
