Now, Dave's Kirkham has a dry sump, which I personally think is just about one of the coolest things to install in a Cobra, outside of having a SOHC engine.

Screw the badge, which is meaningless to me, but a dry sump FE engine is AWESOME.
2 completely different cars . Again it depends what guys are looking for. As far as advertising it I sell a lot buy word of mouth. The old CSX badge was a #1 factor buying my car. Why ??? Because we have had Shelby's since 1970.. See ??? Just opinions.

Sir,
Just curious but what was Shelby s reputation in the 60s and 70s. Was he a superstar Car giant? Were buyers leaving deposits for Cobras?
The current car generation crowd knows Shelby as a slippery, old timer pitch guy.
It s also an unfair comparison between a car guy who grew up in the 60s to a present car guy buying nostaglia.

Wow ....Sir. ???

60s good ol boy tryin to make. $$$ Mid 70s kind stayed out of the limelight... Don't think guys were leaving deposits for Cobra's. Lots were left over... That was BIG $$$$$ at that time.
.... Difference between back then an now ???? Hell ya.. Most of us worked on our own cars. Modified them an had fun. It was just a car back then.. Today ????? Just look in here
.... I firmly believe "SAAC" kept the "name" going ... Lots of earlier clubs helped to.

.... Bottom like buy what ya want an drove the hell out of it... Get tired of it ???.? SELL it !! YES as ya get older u do change. . How many guys in here have had a car for 42 YEARS ???

Now who in here knows about a 65 Griffith 200 or 400 for sale ?????.

Yes, one is blue and one is black.

The fact that they're both alloy-bodied Cobras, both high-end builds, maintained to high standards by their owners, makes them almost EXACTLY the same in my mind.

A Shelby is a Kirkham with Shelby badge. That's a fact. No opinion.

Yes, both are great alloy cars and quite similar except for the makeup and lipstick! And which one would you actually feel good about hopping in and driving the hell out of it as it was intended?

I think your analogy is wrong. Evan thinks/thought that his Shelby replica is/was an original real authentic genuine Shelby Cobra. So, I'd compare Evan to others who desire the Shelby badge and think there's some magic to the badge when it's attached to a Cobra replica made 50 years later by a company that no longer resembles the original company.

Sound like anyone on this thread?

Not necessarily, a Shelby is a Kirkham if you are lucky, SAI does source alu bodies from another supplier with not quite the consistent quality of a Kirkham so I've heard
